My photos from the 2007 Belle Isle Grand Prix in Detroit

Here are a few of my photos from yesterday's Belle Isle Grand Prix of Detroit. It was a multi-day event with the highlights being the American LeMans Series on Saturday and IndyCar Series on Sunday.

The IndyCar race was one of the most exciting that I've ever seen, topped off by a wreck of the 2nd, 3rd, AND 4th place cars on the second to last lap!!!

Tony Kanaan won and Danica Patrick, who led for several laps, placed 2nd! Her best finish ever!

Yet another Floridian transplant. Miamimermaid is also from Florida ,but I beleive she's in the Grand Rapids area. How long have you been here? Not to be nosey it's that lately there's been a red NSX that we thought we had accounted for ,but it may have been you. Where you in the Birmingham area around the dream cruise time?

I missed the IRL race- anybody know when/if they replay it. The ALMS was awesome(except for the fire)

Where you in the Birmingham area around the dream cruise time?

I WAS in Birmingham for the cruise. In fact I spent a good part of the time walking Woodward taking photos (I still need to sort through them). After lunch I hopped into the NSX and "cruised" for a little bit before going home. I didn't see any other NSXs out there but got a few thumbs up and questions from the Corvette guys.

Let me know when you all will be meeting! We always had such a great turnout for the Florida meetings so now I look forward to meeting all of the Michigan owners!

In regard to your question my "access" is 95% sneakiness and 5% luck. Having been to many races I get there EARLY and figure out the ideal vantage points and angles. I spend a lot of time in the paddock and near the pits and get to know the event staff at those locations who can "get me on the inside".

That being said the photos that I posted here and on my webpages are just a small selection of over 1100 photos from 3 cameras that I took during the event. There were plenty that I weeded out and many duplicates.
