Unless you have a wiring problem, this is probably a defective Door Switch, located inside a cluster of things that include the latch mechanism at the back of the door. You will have to take the door apart and, most likely, remove that entire cluster.

Repair or replacement of the Switch may be tricky, replacement of the whole mechanism fairly easy at that point. If you cannot get the Switch off, try a dousing of WD-40 or contact cleaner on the Switch to see if the contacts can be revitalized.

If you think the solution is worse than the problem, then just grin and bear it.

Thanks for the reply..

I'm thinking of taking it to the dealer and let them take care of it.. What do you think?

The door latch assembly will run about $400. The switch alone is about $130, according to the price list on this site, if they don't tell you they have to replace the whole assembly. I'm guessing the switch shown in the parts diagram is the one in question. I didn't check the labor, but I would guess maybe another $100, or so. I can only hope it is a bad wire or connector. Interestingly, my door switch on the passenger side ('91) is not working, either, and I am going to look at it when I go in to check the condition of the power window mechanicals. I can usually fix switches, if the problem is only corrosion. Good luck on your problem.

Bill
