My new steering wheel

Finally after waiting 6 weeks, my steering wheels came in. These are a custom wheel and I KNOW this isn't for everyone here, especially with the real carbon fiber on them, but it matches my now converted to suede interior perfectly so I'm real pleased. These wheels are 320mm instead of stock 350mm which does give it a nicer feel to me. Also, the ergonomics on this wheel are simply amazing and it's really comfortable to drive with (Drove in someone elses car before having these made). One really nice thing about getting the top part of a steering wheel made out of something hard as opposed to leather or suede is that your steering wheel never shows any wear cause if you drive like I do, then your hand is on the top part of the wheel 95% of the time even while turning.

Anyways, tonight I'm gonna paint the resessed, currently yellow painted "OMP" writing with black paint, then bolt it up to my works bell quick releases and get them in the cars.

The one going in my NSX will use the regular NSX-R red "H" horn emblem in place of the OMP horn.

Still waiting on the stock 90s Z horn emblem for my Z's one though, but that should be here in a few days from Coz, and after measuring, it will fit perfectly in the place of where the original lame "OMP" horn was. No need in displaying "OMP" on the horn in either cars.

Anyways, thanks for looking you all. Many MANY nice more parts to come.

Thanks for looking again guys and gals.

Those aren't scratches on the spokes either, just dust and glue that I'm now rubbing off.

For those that are curious, these were custom made for me by a local shop.

I like it....looks good....hope you have other things to match with it.

I do not know much about steering wheels, Iv never thought much about buying one. After reading a fellow primes unfortunate happening, id invest in an aftermarket wheel for security purposes, but would be scared to lose the driver air bag.

Do you guys not care too much about the air bag?

Yup...full black suede interior black stiching and about 5 real CF accents in the interior from Kane and CF Status black suede racing seats. It'll match VERY well. Thanks for the compliment!

can't wait to see all that new CF gear in the car!

That is the best steering wheel I've seen thus far. Any way to get it without it the "OMP"?

Can't wait to see it installed.

Nobody answered this guys question, and I agree.... what about intentionally pulling the airbag out from in front of you?

I don't miss it in either of my cars. I drive safe and that's what cages and kevlar seats are for haha. No but really, I don't even think about it while yanking it out. Hopefully I never find out weather I could have used it or not.

I agree I don't miss my airbag.....I like the look of the aftermarket steering wheel way better......

I drove for years without an airbag in front of me.

Airbags are part of your Supplemental Restraint System and are just a back up to your Primary Restraint System (seatbelt, collapsible steering column, seats and seat mounts.)

So no I'm not worried about it.

Yea, airbags are just a supplemental restraint ....... sort of like a HANS device. So you don't need an airbag if you drive with a HANS device (and doesn't everybody  ) and you also don't need to worry about your neck breaking in a crash like poor Dale Earnhart (his fatal break occurred in a low speed crash) unless, of course, you don't have an airbag because you have replaced your steering wheel for a cool one without an airbag.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but this just had to be said.
