Here is a picture of my new leather seats. This is only the drivers side and a picture of the uninstalled passanger side. It is plain black leather with black suede inserts and suede on part of the side bolster. The seat feels great. Just like my Coach suede leather jacket:D

This has been a long project. I started to work with a company called leatherseats.com back in mid May 2003. I had to buy a spare set of used NSX leather skins to give them as a pattern since I didn't want to be without my seats. I also live in Hawaii so sending them my seats was not practical. Once they got the basic pattern done they made a mockup out of vinyl but they needed an actual seat to finalize the pattern. I had to located a complete NSX seat and was lucky a Prime member had a black drivers seat for sale for a cheap price. I had him ship it directly to the company and the shipping ended up costing more than the seat itself. This is the final result.

The reason why I went with this company rather than have a local shop make me a custom seat was because I had ordered a kit for my Legend Coupe from them and it turned out great. At the time (Back in May 2003) there were no NSX leather kits available and you either had to custom make it or spend the money for the Acura OEM leather. I wanted the NSX community to have another option when it came to leather seat repair/refinishing. I'm not sure if leatherseats.com is ready to release this kit to the public but I'm sure it will be available soon if not already. The good thing about these guys is you can have any combination color/pattern/material of your choice. They also do emboidery if you want it. They also inlcuded a package full of hog rings and ring pliers (This is the metal clips that are used to hold the leather in place) and also brand new push tabs (Also used to hold the NSX leather in place) Basically everything you need for a DIY install.

Wow.. that is excellent. I have always wanted to what it would look like with the suede insert. It looks fantastic, very Zarnardi setat-like.

Do you mind if I ask you how much it cost, and how long it took for them to produce one?

Maybe something is screwy with my PC at work - but what picture? I'd love to see how that turned out!

Here are the seats installed in the car. As for price, I emailed leatherseats.com buy haven't gotten a reply yet. However, I believe they will sell it as their standard one row kits which is listed at $579. As far as I know, the basic kit includes regular leather in any color, and you can do two tone at no extra charge if you want in any color combination. The embroidery in the headreast is about $25 or so extra and suede leather inserts like I bought were $100 extra. Doing the swap yourself is not that hard but it does take patience. I have the service manual so I just followed that and winged it at the same time. I did my leather interior in my Legend myself so I was a bit more confident and the NSX seats are designed in a way that makes installation and removal much easier than other cars. I did my passanger seat in about two hours. The NSX seat uses push in tabs to hold down certain areas. With the new kit, they do not have predrilled holes in the plastic mounting tabs so you will have to drill out your own holes. This is better anyway since no two seats are exactly the same so you can make a better fit by creating the mountnig holes yourself. It is hard plastic so a drill makes really quick work out of it. I like trying to do things myself anyway.:D

PS. Don't mind the amp and incomplete stereo installation and center console. I'm still working on my Audio/Video installation

They still might be sitting in your cache from when you were first able to view them (apparently like the others in this thread). Perhaps the site is down at the moment, and viewers new to the thread are out of luck. :(

I cleared my cache to check for you. Pics downloaded fine.

What about the quality of the leather they use? I can't find anything about it on their web.

The pics seem to still load fine for me even at my work. They are quite large in size though so maybe it is timing out on your computer.

As for the quality of the leather, IMHO they feel better than Acura OEM leather but that is just my opinion. I think it is the same leather as Katzkin (As in they get them from Katzkin) but I'm not sure. The leather is a bit thicker (At least it feels thicker) than OEM leather in both my Acura Legend and NSX kits. I've had the Legend kit in my car for a couple of years now and they look and feel brand new still. Either way, I am happy with the kit and it fit real well on my seats. It is 100X better than the worn bolster seat on my 92. My passanger seat was in great condition but this kit really does show how hard the OEM leather seats. where.

I don't know what the problem could be. I'm on another machine now and pics are coming in fine.

Looks nice!! Do you stick really good to them? :)

I'm glad you can finially see the pics.

Yes, I do stick to them:D That is one thing I found out right away. I have to be careful how I get in and out more so then before. Once you are in you don't slide at all. It just grabs you and doesn't let go:p We'll see how well it wears, but many with the 99 Zanardi seem to have great looking seats still so I think if you are careful it will last a long time. Another thing I thik I notice is that it is a bit hotter than non suede leather. Generally I keep my AC on the low setting and that is just fine for most of the normal Hawaii days, but now I have to turn the AC up a bit for the same comfort.

I once had mine redone with red in the middle and the boulders went with black. Looks awesome!

leather for the NSX...

Dear Members,

I just got off of the phone with Chris. He pointed me to this forum and eventually to this post. I can see that he did a great job on the passenger side install.

Just to confirm... the pattern has been officially available to the public since February 1st. The full retail on the kit is 649.00 and we have a set discount for all NSXPrime.com members that drops it to $579.00 for the full kit. We can do group buys if you guys are interested... I would have to work up the pricing. As Chris said... we can do embroidery work.

We have over 50 colors available all in automotive grade vat dyed heavy g-grain finishes. We also have over 30 colors of ultra suede, carbon fiber leathers in 3 colors, ostrich in two colors, and a few other exotic options. All kits come with a 3 year/36k mile warranty against any type of manufacturing or raw material defect. I have attached a pic of Chris's kit before it left our facility.

I would love some feedback on what you guys think.
