Wow! That sounds nice.

How much HP are you going to get with the Chip? I read it is easily over 400HP.

Thats a definitely a nice car. One of a very few german cars I really like.

looks and sounds great.

i finally got past the 1,000 mile break in on our 2010 A6 Avant and even though it's a detuned version of your motor... it moves for a big wagon.

i don't hear the blower whine at all in our Audi... did you do something to make yours sound so pronounced or is that typical for the S4?

love the exhaust btw.

That car is very underrated from the factory. Stock for stock it should be making similar power as the 4.2 fsi v8 RS4 based on its acceleration numbers and also they dyno over 300whp stock.

You got it... all the speed of an RS4 without the carbon issues. It's not as cool looking, but once a chip is installed, it should be incredible.

The SC is capable of making 17 lbs of boost... it's 10 right now. I think even bumping it to 12 should need another 50-100hp at the wheels. We'll see... I only have 2300 miles on the car, so I have to wait, and right now only a couple of companies have "piggyback" systems... which give about 40hp to the wheels. I'm waiting for the full flash....

The reason you can hear the SC is that I put a stratmosphere intake on it. Perhaps the same can be done for the A6??? I just love the sound of it... had it on before the exhaust and it was awesome watching people turn to see what the hell was coming for them. lol

I think I'm the only yellow one out there... seems everyone wants their sports sedans in white/black or grey. It's kinda cool.. my first yellow car... always wanted one as a kid but when I got older I just thought it wasn't for me. My dad had a yellow Jaguar E-Type that he had to sell right after I was born, so I guess it runs in the family?

I had the same whine in my Escape when the belt tensioner was going bad... except still not enough power to get out of its own way

What did Audi do to fix the carbon buildup problem on the B8 S4?

I'm no expert on the whole thing, but something to do with raised operating oil temps with some sort of re-circulation of gasses thing. I'll try and find the thread on it.

"Audi has a pseudo-catch can installed under the SC in the "V" of the engine for this engine. It's an "oil recovery" system, which Decksurgeon very kindly posted some pics of in a thread from several months ago, let me dig that thread up.

Here it is: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?336521-FSI-Engine-Excessive-Carbon-Buildup-powerloss-low-miles-before-amp-after-pictures

The oil capture system readmits the crankcase vapors to the supercharger via small port underneath is as seen in his picture."

Now... does it work??? We'll see....

Probably will not work. You may not know this but the RS4 has a 3 stage cyclonic separator that is supposed to work like a catch can. The RS4 also has a mesh material in the valve covers to help capture the oil vapor as well. Audi definitely knew about this as you can see in their patents and tried to run the motor in a stratified lean burn mode to help clean the valves. They changed this for some reason.

To learn more click here:
Audi RS4 Engine Design Study Guide Refer to page 9.

There have been a few folks who have added catch cans to the RS4 and it has not worked. Using oils with higher flash points seems to mitigate the problem somewhat, which is why I switched to RLI BIOSyn oil. In addition, I have changed my oil service interval to 3000miles to eliminate as much buildup as possible versus the factory recommended 10k mile intervals. We will see how these steps help the buildup in December when I take apart the intake manifold.

This is really the only problem with the RS4. DRC can be replaced with an incredible Ohlins setup from Stasis or the newer revision factory parts, which I have. Despite the CB hassle the car is so much fun to drive and plenty fast.

Good luck with the S4. Hopefully, the carbon bug does not hit the B8 S4 models. Pretty soon your S4 will be faster then your SC NSX. From a dig it will definitely take a stock NSX as it sits today.

Do they make aftermarket pulleys (smaller diameter) to get more boost? In the MINI Coopers you can get another 40hp out of it. Sweet sound though......

Yeah... wouldn't surprise me... which is why this is my first leased car in 10 years. I'm still a tad scared about the whole carbon thing. I was looking at RS4's before I bought the B8. If it weren't for the carbon issue, I might be driving a B7 RS4 right now. I'm hoping they figured this whole thing out... if not, I'll let them have the car back and I'll move onto something else. B8 Rs4?

-As for the mini cooper comment... yeah, I had one. I swapped pulleys on it... and yeah, it made more SC whine. That was fun!

You're on it Gil... used to have a blue S4... that was 2 or three cars ago. :)

You leased the S4? And you are doing all the mods? What does the dealer say about that? I now if you use the Stasis stuff it is covered under warranty.

A bolt on exhaust and intake aren't really anything big. Our dealers here are pretty cool. It all comes off, and trust me, I'm saving the original parts. The chip on the other hand would definitely void warranties. That would be something that I wouldn't do or ahem, disclose until after I made a decision to purchase the car at the end of the lease. I fully plan at this point on purchasing this vehicle if everything holds up well on it (or trade it in for the RS4 when it comes out hopefully in 3 years).

You know, even when you "buy" a car, the bank holds the title until you pay it off, unless of course you pay the whole thing off at once... so you really don't own it until then either. That's never stopped me in the past. :)
