My left headlight for some reason stops about halfway down and then gets stuck. I have to manually wind it back up. So I've been driving with the lights up all the time.

Is there something that needs to be lubed or what?

hangman...

Do you have an aftermarket, plug-n-play HID xenon headlight system installed?

I had the same problem intermittently due to a zip-tie getting caught. I had to reconfigure my ballast & ignitor placement to remedy the problem.

nothing aftermarket... Also, it is really tough to see down in there. Any tips?

Something else I notice... When I manually turn the adjuster to raise the light up the light would jerk back down to the mid height point at which it stops when I try to let the lights down.

Its like the motor has some sort of memory telling it that it is supposed to be down. However, when I twist it really fast while slightly pulling up on the light and it comes up to full height with no problem. Then, when I send the lights down it stops halfway down or maybe a little higher up than half way.

I am beginning to think that nothing is in the way; especially since I cannot see anything and nothing has changed since when it started doing this. Could it be that the motor has a glitch or is confused into thinking that midway down is the bottom?

Is there some sort of adjustment to how far up the come and how far down they go when turned up and down?

Sounds like something has failed in the gears that drive the retractor arm. Test the retractor motor according to the online service manual in section 23 page 184 or page 1170 of the .pdf file.

All of a sudden when I tried the lights yesterday it worked. No more stopping. This has happened before and I know nothing was in the way. Any idea of what causes this?

Jupiter must have been aligned with Mars.
