My AC is dead

My 1991 auto NSX's AC has quit.

I used to be able to coax it on, but it would not work unless in the coldest setting + highest blower (which got cold enough). However now it does not even come on and if it does it clicks off (no lights) after a short while and does not come on again. I suspect problem with the electronics within the head unit.

The weather now is pleasant here but I need a solution as summer approaches. Appreciate any input folks.

Does Acura still supply the head unit as new? If so does anyone have the part number and price?

Thanks,

You can send it to "briank" , but if you wish to buy a new one they are available still , you should just use the "desert wind"

^ You need to get your CCU repaired.....same issue I had as well.

Say guys,

Have they picked the site for next years NSXPO? I would like to meet Brian too. Not that I need hime to do anything on my AC but I do need some work on my subwoofer I think.

Tim,

NSXPO may be in Vegas is what we are all hoping for. As far as the subwoofer and stockspeakers are concerned....I wouldn't waste my money on it because it sounds like blah. But thats up to you, I had my speakers sent back to BOSE to have it rebuilt and end up being dissappointed when I got them back 6 weeks later. Still sounded like crap crackling and fuzzy when you turn it up.

I kepted the oem headunit but I replaced the subwoofer with the zetoolman box version 3 which is really cheap at 250 now compared to what we were paying a few years ago (650 a pop or so) and I changed out my door speakers to some middle level Boston Acoustics. I added one 4 channel amp behind the seat and an eq. Now the system is what it should sound like......awesome!

By the way after reading thread I should have said "who killed it?" dum dum dum hehe

Back to OP: you need to get the CCU climate board capacitors ("caps") replaced. Normally, BrianK does this work and performs a great job.

Since you are in the Abu Dabi, it would probably be a lot easier to fix it locally (or yourself). The CCU is a low density board, so just about anybody that is brave enough to pick up a soldering iron can do it.

Here is the problem though: when caps fail they tend to leak acid. This can ruin parts of the circuit board ("PCB")...making a simple repair difficult even for a skilled person. Heat is not your friend either and it helps to get it repaired as soon as reasonably possible.

Just had BrianK revive my AC controller...work perfectly
Thanks, Brian!
