MY 02 NSX makes top 10 out of 1000 cars at show and to be on TV. With some PICS now
So I took my 2002 Silver Stone Metallic NSX T and entered it in to the Slamin and Jamin car show in Lebanon, TN. There were over 1000 plus entries in this show! The range of vehicles was from mini trucks to full size dullies slamed to every import you could think of with every mod possible to domestic sports cars with some crazy crap done to them. There was a lot of RICE, there was a lot of junk, but over all there was some awesome, tricked out cars and trucks with some of the best paint jobs I have seen to date.
So the show was on Fri, Sat, Sun. I could not make it on Fri but I went bright and early on Sat and Sun. Even though I got to the show only 1 hour after the gates opened I still had to get a spot out in the sticks. By 1pm they announced that they had over 1000 entries in the car show. For your car to be judged you had to drive to a judging lane, the wait was over 4 hours long. So I dumped the idea of having my car judged.
Once I returned to my spot in the sticks I dusted my car off and sat down with my bottle of water and continued answering the 100 questions an hour about my NSX. Just a bit later A couple of guys came over to me. They said that my NSX was picked for the ULTIMATE 10. The guy told me that on Sunday I should park at the entrance in the designated area for the 10 best in show. Falken Tire company sponsored the show and the guys from Falken Tire chose the top 10.
I was very happy with this considering the vast competition. My NSX was complemented by hundreds of people. Just about every person that walked by my car with a camera took 1 or more PICS.
For those of you that have not seen my NSX before I will post PICS in a few days. I have done a few upgrades that complement the car. In the words of the Falken Tire guys "its a clean car not to much." The 2002 NSX has SSR 18's all the way around with 225-35-18's in front and 285 30 18's in the rear, Tein RA's with the ride height in the front with no fender gap and just a bit of fender gap in the rear, Tatiec Carbon Fiber wing, Tatiec Rear Diffuser painted to match the car, Tatiec GT Light Weight Center Exit Exhaust, Comptech Headers, Carbon Fiber Mirrors, Carbon Fiber side vents, Carbon Fiber intake plate, and a 100 HP shot of NX wet nitrous system with an outstanding install.
Sat was as sunny and beautiful as a day can get. Sunday morning I got up at 5:30 am and detailed the NSX. I got to the show right at 8:15am and took my spot at the front gate. The weather was slightly overcast. At about 9am I got a very nice surprise. A camera crew from TNN was shooting the Slamin and Jamin event.
I asked the crew when the event would be on TV. The producer told me that they are filming for a new TV show called Xtrem Imports. This show is to start in the 4th quarter on what is now TNN. They will be changing from TNN to the Spike Network in the fall. After I got all that info the crew told me that they would be filming the Ultimate 10 in show. I was very happy to hear this.
The camera crew and host's made their way over to the 10 cars. One of the hosts for the show, a fine gentleman by the name of Griff Allen came over and asked why my NSX was in the ultimate 10. I told him of all the upgrades on the car and the plans for the future of my NSX. After a nice conversation they set up and began filming the top 10 with the owners next to their cars. As Griff Allen and the other host were doing the talk show thing in front of the Ultimate 10 Griff asked the other host what was his favorite in show. The host mentioned a bad ass Honda S2000 in silver with a Vortech super charger and Veilside body kit and some 18's, the owner of the S2000 I met a week earlier at a Honda meet and has a shop right down the road from my house (shear coincidence).
The 2nd host then asked Griff Allen what was his best in show pick was, Griff then had the camera point to two vehicles. He said "Its a tie for me, this awesome F250 with a Navigator front end & slammed and then this awesome 2002 NSX with a 100 shot of Nitrous you just cant beat an NSX." Griff Allen told me to keep in touch via e-mail about my NSX for some possible future coverage. Man was I thrilled by the kind words, pro NSX attitude and the video shot.
By about noon time it began to rain, but I could not believe it, no one left and there was still a line to get in the show. I had to stick around till 2pm for the Ultimate 10 trophy. So now I am home, I cleaned up my car and have a nice smile on my face. I just wanted to share the events of this weekend. I will have the PICS in a few days and a link to them.
