or if it doesn't have to MP3, Windows Media Player 10 does WMA out of the box.

or if you're really leet, use LAME for ultra-mega-high-quality encoding.

Exact Audio Copy + Lame ... Both are free, and EAC has lots of checks for CD-drive parameters as well.

Call me an idiot, then. iTunes screwed up my computer something fierce. Everyone was telling me how great it was, but it never worked properly for me. And even when it was doing what it was theoretically supposed to do, it did so in such a stupid manner as to make it infuriating. The final straw was when it decided, apparently by itself, to reindex my whole collection, and kept grabbing focus for the hours-long operation. I had to go to Task Manager and kill it, and then I uninstalled it forever.

ANYWAYS, the OP opined about a just a ripper, and I've found CDex to be a very capable, accurate, spyware-free ripper.
