I have been reading on here for about 6 months, and I have to say that it is one of my favorite past times lately. The knowledge and respect here is amazing. I have been saving for an NSX for about a year now, and should have one by the end of summer. It’s sad to say that my first post has nothing to do with an NSX, but I know how helpful everyone is, so I thought I would ask. Any comments will be appreciated.

My roommate and I have decided to relocate to Las Vegas, and I noticed that there were quite a few people on prime from there, and I thought you might be able to help me with some questions.

1. Where to live. we have done a lot of research on the web, and have come up with 3 neighborhoods: The Lakes, Summerlin, and Paradise Valley. We are looking for a safe neighborhood with low crime, but still lots to do. Cool little bars, places to go not strip related, ect. We are looking to avoid lots of punk kids and touristy areas. If anyone here lives in any of these areas, or anywhere else that is nice in the valley, let me know what you think.
2. jobs. Both of us are currently self employed, and are looking to either work in a casino or real-estate. Does anyone on here work at a job they like, that is hiring? We both have college degrees and good work history, any ideas would be helpful
3. things to avoid. Any places/people/things to avoid?

We just decided to move, kind of spur of the moment. We are both in our late 20’s, and from big city’s (Chicago and Phili) and somehow got to living here for the past 3 years. We both were talking about how we needed to move the other night because we were getting too comfortable here and we didn’t want to settle down, and we picked Vegas because it was somewhere that looked like a whole different experience from everywhere else. We are coming out there in the first week of January to look at places and look for jobs, and will be moving in February 1st.

Anything you can tell me will be appreciated, thanks

First night there, Id put it all on black. Then, head over to the Wynn and snag a Ferrari:biggrin:

I moderate both of these MySpace groups:

Viva Las Vegas!

NSX Club of Las Vegas

How to join the NSX Club of Las Vegas here.

The Viva Las Vegas group front page has nearly every link you'll ever need to get to know the in's and out's of Las Vegas. I would spend some considerable time there. I hand picked what I felt are the best links on Vegas. There is also links I made on:

Things you should know about Las Vegas

Vegas Real Estate

Basically anything away from the strip is a suburb and describes what you are looking for. If you can afford it, I recommend Summerlin, Green Valley Ranch, the newer communities in the SW part of town and Henderson (roughly in that order).

There are a also a few threads on jobs and such in the message board but I don't have time to find them right now. Basically finding a job in the gaming industry is hard unless you already have gaming experience. It also depends on what you are looking for and what skill set you have. It is true that tons of job are constantly opening up, but there are tons of people like you (people moving into Vegas looking for jobs) too. Many people find that it is not as easy to find a job here as most people think and it is universally agreed that it is better to have a job first before moving out here.

Personally, I would avoid North Las Vegas and any place near Nellis AFB, unless you have a bullet proof vest and life insurance. I also avoid the Strip area because of the insane traffic, but I'm sure it will still have magical appeal to you when you first get here.

Anything else, just ask.

Is there a Paradise Valley in Vegas? When I put in Paradise Valley on Google maps it shows northern Nevada.

I recommend Summerlin but it is very expensive.

I like Vegas but I can get tired of the traffic. There are some of the worst drivers I've ever seen. Seems like some of the drivers act as if they're playing a video game, or perpetually drunk.

Good luck with your move. You're young and if it doesn't work out you can always move home.
