Mounting Valentine 1 radar in the NSX

Based on previous threads, it seems the Valentine 1 is the radar detector to get. I had a cordless BEL before that I mounted using a velcro type thing on the dash of a 996. However, I could never figure out a way to mount it in the NSX. The visor mount clip was too thin to fit on the visor of the NSX. And I don't like using suction cups b/c I would take the radar down when I park in a public place and the cups always leave suction marks. I haven't purchased the Valentine yet so I don't know what the visor mount looks like. Will it fit the passenger side visor of the NSX? If not, does anyone have any other suggestions on mounting the detector. (I would buy the installed one but I'd like to be able to move the radar from car to car) Thanks.

The mount for the coupe looks good. However, I have a T and I'm not sure I like the radar being behind me or having it permanently mounted there. (moving it every time I leave the car would be a pain) Plus I don't know if I want to try wiring the concealed display through the car. I would probably screw up the car. Does anyone else have another way of mounting the radar?

Thanks for the links and the pics. If nothing else comes up, I think it might be the solution.

I have a V-1 hardwired to the pass visor. If you use the clip place it backwards ie clip from the leading edge of the visor.I use those elastic hair squngies around it to prevent vibration noise ,,works fine.

Also, a friend got the number of a guy with the V1 display in his rear-view mirror. Very high-tech, but expensive. About $600 for the mirror display.

V1 sells remote display kits, so it doesn't matter where you mount the detector. The remote display is small and can be put anywhere where it's easy for you to see and no one else.

Yeah, I bought the remote display too. I'm trying to figure out the best place to mount the radar. I actually found the FAQ for mounting the V1. I'll probably give one of those ideas a try. Thanks.

I have a V1, and used the visor clip in a "permanent" install for my other car, so I've just been using the suction cup mount for the moment. Works, but inconvenient (I hate to leave it sitting in the window).

So I've been thinking about ordering another visor clip, and mounting it on the center visor like others have suggested. However...

I do like how the Dali V1 mount is more "hidden" (on a coupe at least), but I worry that it would reduce the front radar detection range. Has anyone contacted V1 or actually done any sort of tests to see if there is any effect from mounting the unit farther back in the car?

I tried two spots with my V1. First I had it suctioned to the interior light in the back of the cabin between the seats. It was OK but I couldn't see where the radar was coming from because I couldn't see the arrow. Now I have it hard wired and it sits to the right of the interior rearview mirror at the top of the windshield on the passenger side. It works extremely well and it doesn't interfere with my forward vision or anything else. It's perfect ! Send me an email if you want all the details about the wiring, etc.

I have a V1 mounted on the Dali bracket for the T-top. I have a remote display mounted with velcro on the carpet just to the left of my thigh near the gas door release. Both are pretty much out of view from the outside, and the remote is easy to reach to silent false alarms from malls and businesses. As you all know there is no protection from instant on radar if your first in line, but the unit works perfect for signals front or rear from moving CHP. The V1 is velcro'd to the bracket so it's not that hard to remove if need be.
