This will be a first of it's kind Gymkhana race that will feature drivers competing in a head to head battle on a complex course designed to push cars to the limits of tire smoking traction. You'll see the best drivers from all areas of motorsports battling it out for the title of best Gymkhana driver of all. Come see first hand as Ken Block drives to keep his Gymkhana Crown at the most exciting race of 2010!

WHAT IS GYMKHANA?
GYM-KHA-NA- Spelled Pronunciation [jim-kah-nuh]
Derived from the Hindi word, this Indian term is used to describe a sport that tests the ability of competitors to negotiate a pre-designed route with complex design.
Gymkhana as a motor sport is a driving technique where a driver negotiates a complex designed course. Gymkhana events are time and/or speed events in an automobile. Generally Gymkhana courses feature obstacles such as cones, tires, barrels, K-rail, ext. The driver must maneuver through a predetermined course performing many different driving techniques. Gymkhana requires drivers to 180 degree spins, 360 degree spins, parking box maneuvers, figure 8s and other advanced skills. Drifting is also part of the course designs and may be a necessary to complete the course correctly. Essentially, a gymkhana is any event featuring a starting point, a finish line and some sort of obstacle to get through, around, or by, all within a time limit. The driver's goals is to negotiate the course as fast as possible with the least amount of course infractions. Acceleration, braking, drifting/sliding & grip driving are all necessary. Not only does a driver have to hold control over his/her own car, but gymkhana requires strong mental concentration and memorization.
The sport of Gymkhana is ready to become a relevant form of motor sports in North America. For those unfamiliar with the sport of Gymkhana, the goal of this form of racing is for production-based vehicles to run in a head to head battle against each other on a pre designed gymkhana course. Gymkhana racing uses elements of Drifting, Drag racing and Auto Cross, all tied together in a very technical course that puts a driver's skill to the ultimate test. Gymkhana racing rewards ingenuity, quality, skill and determination.

Hmm...thinking about it, I just might:biggrin:

ALright, so a couple NSX guys are gonna meet up for this at 2pm at my place then head on over to Irwindale Speedway. If you're down, PM me or post here. I'll get a hold of you to get the plan squared away and get things going. Should be a cool turnout and a fun one at that. Afterwards at around 5-6pm we'll be rollin' through to a nice THai spot in Chino Hills for dinner if you guys happen to be hungry by then and want to chill afterwards. Good food, cool owner, and definitely NSX friendly.

Who's in? (aside from those i have contacted already)
