This is why they say "speed kills". Incredible pictures of a terrible crash. No blood or messy pictures.

The Honda rider was traveling at such a "very high speed", his reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police estimate a speed of ~250 KM/h (155mph) before the bike hit the slow moving car side-on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the rider's reaction time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't sufficient enough for him to even apply the brakes. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 10 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved (two in car and rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair by the Swedish Police and Road Safety Department. The sign above the display also noted that the rider had only recently obtained his license.

At 250 KM (155 mph) the operator is traveling at 227 feet per second. With normal reaction time to SEE-DECIDE-REACT of 1.6 seconds the above! operator would have traveled over 363 feet while making a decision on what actions to take. In this incident the Swedish police indicate that no actions were taken.

He didn't even have enough time to poop in his undies!

Once again it wasn't the motorcycle’s fault. The car pulled out (unless maybe the car was driving sideways).
Everybody blames the motorcycle. Not fair.

I'd say ANYTHING that happens when you enter an intersection at 155 mph is going to be your fault. No driver is going to see you / expect you to close the gap that fast, nor would any speeing rider / driver with half a brain expect them too.

OK, that was blanket statement I made. But if the car driver had seen him, which is his job, if he wants to stay alive on the roads anyway, the motorcycle wouldn't have hit him when the car blocked the bike.
It not the first (or last) time a motorcycle has gone through and intersection at 155mph
Alright, I wouldn't do it, but others do. Obviously.

The general saying that “motorcycles are dangerous” is, I believe, wrong. Cars are dangerous (to motorcycles). But everybody (not necessarily on this site, but in general) blame accidents on the bikes with the blanket statement “motorcycles are dangerous”. Like it’s their fault and deserve to die. I hate it.
I would love to have a motorcycle again if the cars weren’t so dangerous (and if it wasn’t pissing with rain half the time ).

Anyway, just ranting…

The bike was too far away for the driver to see before he entered the intersection. At the speed the bike was moving if the driver looked to the direction of the bike then the other direction before commiting to the turn that would have taken about 3 seconds. In those 3 seconds the bike traveled the length of 2 football fields. It's absolutely the bike's fault.

Bikes are extremely dangerous. They don't protect their riders, easily lose traction during emergency maneuvers, and are virtually invisible to other traffic.

I've been riding since 1977. I currently ride a Hayabusa which as you probably know is one of the fastest vehicles that you can put a license plate on. (0-60 mph in 2.8 sec, 0-100 mph in 5.3 sec). The damn thing is going 80mph at redline is 1st gear!

My mindset when riding is completely different than when I'm in my NSX. I drive extremely defensively in traffic and only open her up on those rare occasions when there is no visible traffic and ONLY on limited access highways with no intersections. Intersections are evil if you're on a bike.

c'mon...that's like saying its never the pedestrian's fault. There are stupid jaywalkers out there and there are stupid bikers and there are stupid drivers.

Yeah, I rode bikes for five years everyday as my normal transport. Had a few close calls but got out of them.

I would say YOUR bike was friggen dangerous for that bug on your windshield!
