on page 22 of the April issue, under Honda's Caddy Rival, it states the upcoming RD-X will have SH-AWD and a turbocharged 2.2L, I-4 making 260HP and 260TQ and that it will be the first factory turbocharged Honda sold in the US, but not the last.

Can a turbocharged TL, RL, or even NSX be next?

RD-X is a SUV. hmm...

This is VERY interesting news..... VERY.

There was ONE report that the HSC was turbocharged. A magazine reviewed it. I never heard anything more about it.

I cannot see the TL going turbo unless they used SHAWD. I don't see the RL with it either. That leaves the RSX, TSX and NSX. I can't see either FWD car handling the power of the turbo. So, my guess is they could add SHAWD and turbo at either RSX or TSX.

As for the NSX, it could really use it for 2006. That would be the best news EVER!

In the latest autonews, the VP of American Honda said "we need to make Honda cool again".

Turbo's might just be the answer!

PS. You got the new Motor Trend Already!!!!

I seem to recall an AutoWeek article (posted by someone here no less) where it stated Honda claimed the next TL (maybe RL but I'm pretty sure it was TL) would be RWD.

Lied to again by the conservative approach first people at Honda.

I really have no faith in Honda to go all out for performance until I see it.

As for the SH-AWD, yeah it's great, but I'd still rather have just RWD.

The RL is criticized by nearly all the car magazines for not having a v8, so i see a turbo RL(aka RL type S) as possibility.

But do you guys think a turbo RL making plenty of power (even more power than with the use of a V8) will still be criticized for not having a V8?

Hard to say. The main critique I read of the RL is the lack of low-end TQ. A turbo will still not solve that. It might have a buttload at 3500 RPM, but it will still not have the off-the-line punch of the larger 4.3 and 5+ L engines.

I was trying to think what luxury cars use turbos. This list is small, BUT the RL turbo would be in very fine company. Ie. Maybach, S600, RS6.

It would be pretty cool to have a RL with a 400HP turbo motor.

is that the the aquatrax f-12x? i am just repeating what MT said and that is the RD-X will be the first factory turbocharged Honda. maybe you should write to MT telling them that they are wrong on the rd-x being the first turbocharged honda sold in the US.
the funny thing is that MT even had an ad for a turbocharged Honda jetski.

They were obviously referring to Honda cars, but lately these oversights have become the standard at MT. Their edditing department has been blowing off the details for a while now.

Well lets hope the fact that Toyota/Lexus is developing their mid engine beast... that Honda/Acura will not drop the ball... No matter what, the fact that Honda now has any vehicle(on road...) with turbo is very exciting news. We can only hope they start to build sports oriented, factory turbo cars. Would make my life/business a lot easier.:)

Honda had a road going turbo vehicle in production. It was the Honda CX 650 Turbo motorcycle.
