Even though i'm third from the top, these charts vindicate me from being a post-wh0re. :D
my daily counter has was 3.9 a month ago...

How come nsxtasy & phoen$x get to be pink on the graphs? :p

NSXTASY : ur post counter is outta control like a nuclear meltdown! kool!

Interesting that July peaked, but myself and Phoen$x (two top posters) weren't around much. More detective work needs to done to find out who the culprits were. :D

Re: Total posts per month

Lud,

were there really that many posts, or that many individual views?

Those are new message posts. Message views are not trackable with the current system... thread views are tracked - vBulletin doesn't have a report for that but you can see them in main thread view in any of the forums.

Speak Up

Two observations - with the increase in traffic here, thus may be a reason for the reduction in traffic on The Big List.

Not all frequent posts are meaningful. One of the members in the top five rarely posts anything more than one sentence. And he has never really engaged in a lengthy conversation with substance to it. His posts are typically something like:

Me too.

Nice picture.

Good question.

Impressive stats.

I don't know about you, but to me posts like that don't add much social redeeming value. I know I know, freedom of speech, etc. But why not try to be a bit more "engaging" in your e-conversation. Afterall, it could make you sound more intelligent than just uttering a few syllables just to hear yourself talking. :p

I don't understand why you want to put someone down who posts one sentence replies. Who cares. This is for fun guys.

As for me... well, I am way behind.... time to start some serious training.. 10 posts a day for the next two weeks :)

What exactly does "short reply" mean?

For instance, if I were to post a picture of my car, and others reply simply saying, "what a beautiful car", this may as well be a seemingly "short reply". However, this could "mean" a lot to me since it is a nice gesture or compliment from other NSX enthusiasts. I would personally prefer "no reply" to many short replies.

Here is my feelings on too many "quick" replies.

When posting I think there is and we need to maintain a culture of "adding value" to a thread. This was evident in the email lists because people would scream bloody murder when their email box would fill up with comments like "me too", "I was thinking the same thing", and "right on!".

Now that we use these message boards more there is more control over notification but it is nice to actually return to a thread and see it evolve and not just depredate off topic or have a ton of posts that have no content and must be weeded through to get to meaningful information.

So not to bash and not that I have never had quick replies - but remember - when people see my post are they learning something or am I just thinking out loud and not adding any value?

How would I feel if every time I posted a question or a new thread if 1500 people responded - "good question" and I had to hunt through all that to get to any meaningful response?

Image the "let down" when someone gets an email notification that someone has replied to their thread, question, or problem and all they have to read is "I once had the same question".

It is a matter of courtesy really...

peace out...

I'm with you 92NSX! I don't need to write a paragraph or an essay to express my point of view. If I can do it in a simple sentence, I will! And I'll continue to respectfully post one liners all I can! And if "someone" perceives this as less than an intellectual post, so be it. I'm at work. I flip back and forth in my spare time. I'm not trying to give a lecture or trying to impress anyone with my vocabulary, as it may seem sometimes. ;) Aight! - Z

Not that I'm 100% for this, but I wonder if turning off the post counts would eliminate most of the pure post whoring and bring more contents to the forums from people who truly offer assistance or have real questions regarding the topics at hand.

Nobody minds a one-liner if it's funny... afterall, that is one of Ken's specialities! :D

that's so true. I know this actual post has been editted and changed, but It was too funny. No offenses to whomever it was directed at, but that post where Ken corrected several statements of wrong information and then announced the tri-fecta put a smile back on my face.

Thanks Ken!

For the record I have no bones to pick with anyone and don't like to be lumped into arguments.

I do believe it is important that the "old time netzions" that have been a round a while express their belief in a culture and provide nudging - but do so without getting ugly or putting people down.

At the end of the day if you don't like someone put them on ignore and block their email.

That said my advice is simple - join the NSXCA and organize or otherwise get to an NSX event and you will find the biggest online feuds turn into understanding and friendship - more times then not. Not to mention you will make memories and friendships that last a very long time.

peace...

And the in the last word dept: Actualy it is not surprising nor strange for any thread to take such a twist,it is not a matter of chance nor is it the topic,it is your need to emote or open the door to vent or get emotional baggage off the cart accumulated on the prime community,We all have mental pictures of each other based soley on posts.I have been more than surprised each xpo putting faces to names, somtimes I'm right on sometimes way off.Rather than considering this as real life (agree to disagree) don't take anything that anyone says here(of a personal nature) as anymore important to you as say ,the dialogue from a favorite movie. When I was new here I fell into that trap,Getting hot over others opinions, as if it really mattered (other than all the great technical stuff ) We all need robust filters in life, use yours!:) And as I'm learning it takes a real talent to be humorous on line.

Ojas

I hope this isn't too personal a question, but

I was wondering

You’ve been signed up since 2000 and you have only 704 posts. Does the counter reset somehow?

And what is this Gold, Silver, and, Platinum Members anyway? Is there a link I should be visiting on this website as a new member?

If anything I said above offends you, please ignore the post

:D I know: I signed up 9 days after the forum first went online and am not even close to 1000 and still not top-50. The counter's accurate. I'm just quiet and try to take-in all great knowledge (and humor) of other members... You know what they say: Two ears, one mouth - there's a reason. ;)

BTW: Check out the last page of members by date joined for post counts of "old" members.

BTW2: I think I had 1xx posts at the start of the year, so I've been posting more frequently recently.
