Most anticipated movies of 2006

Well, it's January and theaters have been showing previews of upcoming and most anticipated movies of 2006.

For me, while Superman Returns is pretty much a no-brainer as it remains high on everyone's list, there is one other movie that I'm anticipating which I didn't know was coming out until they showed a trailer of it prior to Spielberg's 'Munich.'

Mel Gibson's Apocalypto.

While Wikipedia clarifies that it has no religious undertones, it is nonetheless a film that strikes curiosity amongst many, I myself included, especially after the hoopla generated by his last project--and probably his signature film to date -- 'The Passion of the Christ' (which we openly discussed extensively here on NSXPrime).

It seems from now on, anything Gibson does is cause for attention, unwanted or otherwise. I'll be waiting eagerly for this one.

Which movies are you waiting for?
 
I'm curious to see how long this comic book "fad" will last in Hollywood :rolleyes: ...I feel a backlash coming on in a few years.



the new Superman does look cool though :smile:
 
I like everything mentioned so far but im also into conspiracy type movies so I am also waiting for The DaVinci Code
 
I can't think of a single movie I'm looking forward to in 2006. It's all a bunch of sequels and remakes, and mostly of movies and teevee shows I didn't like the first time 'round.

I plan on spending 2006 with my DVD player, catching up on shows that I missed like Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, and Stargate SG1/Atlantis.

i was driving along sunset on wednesday evening, and happened to pass the premier for underworld 2.... and we saw the red carpet, photographers, but saw some "dood" just chilling on the photostage... as dissapointed as we were, just as we were passing the theater, towards one side of the complex, we saw kate exit her limo and strike a pose for the photographers at the entrance way to the red carpet.... O BOY O BOY.... there was a LOT of traffic on sunset.... and i was the cause of it :tongue: :biggrin:
 
Pirates of the Caribean 2 should be cool, I liked the first one a lot. Underworld 2 should be cool, I hope the story is a little better than the first. I hope that the DaVinci Code is as good as the book.
I just need to get a solid babysitter, because I only got to watch DVD's at home last year!:eek: :biggrin:

i have to agree Underworld 2!
 
The acting in Brokeback Mountain is quite fine.

I was a little disappointed with it overall though, mainly
because I'd read the short story first and a screenplay,
no matter how good, doesn't retain the style of the prose
in the original story. Annie Proulx is a phenomenal author.
