i'll post more details as soon as i have them - i was just invited last night and i have no idea if it's a test, club or dexter day.

Cool, thanks, (and nice to know who u are)

Do you have a link for the Audi Day?

i do not. all i know is that it is being put on by Owasco vw/Audi, and that my friend is cheif instructor for the day.

i might go to the dexter day as well, not sure at this point. it really sucks being a passenger, even when it's allowed.

A Dexter Day is held on the GP track @ Mosport. They have some instruction and you need to either convince them you know what you're doing (like you've Really driven the track before), or you will be placed into a classroom session and then sent out with an instructor. (there's nothing wrong with that)

The only thing I understand that makes it not optimal for novices (and I assume you are one since you're asking) is that it is fully open lapping, so you will be out with me on the track passing you where ever I like - if I were you (i.e. reasonably new to this), it would freak me out to consider that I would be learning one of the trickiest tracks in North America under that pressure.

I'd recommend the Hanson day on Nov 11th on the small track for a taste of track that will not wear your car or risk it at all!

All of that said: Dave, I'm in for Dexter if you are!

Red where you at Cayuga a few weeks ago in a 944t??? If so I will have no problems at Mosport ;)

Na, you wont John.

Just remember, first lap out, go out full speed and get a feel for the track.

J/K.

Im not sure what you meant by your comment, but Cayuga's not in the same league as Mosport when it comes to danger. Im not sure there is a more dangerous track in North America than Mosport. You can be an incredible driver, but if you head off line because you're not sure where you're headed, you're done.

You may have picked up some caution in Stu's typing. At Mosport, instructors are there to show you the lines you need to run (they may not be obvious) more so than they are to improve your driving.

DONT HEAD ONTO MOSPORT WITHOUT AN INSTRUCTOR, for at least the first day.

A couple laps HERE

I have heard that. From what I gather the track likes to eat up cars!!
I have done close to 20 track days but never on Mosports GP track. I am a little cautious with an open top car (S2000)

I was @ Cayuga about two months ago on a Friday afternoon, it was my first and last time - what a tire eater!

I'm not sure how my driving Cayuga relates to Mosport, except I found Cayuga to be flat and safe as hell - AND my car is NOT geared for it (I have the S2 gearbox, which is designed for GP tracks, my 2nd is low enough for entering hairpins but my 3rd is needed just after apex to redline at about 60 mph, then 4th to 90 mph @ redline and fifth isn't a "highway gear" but just the gear after 4th, I carry it until I top-out, which my butt limits to about 140 MPH - but that may increase now that my monoballs are renewed!

As Dave said, you can be a small track expert, I just didn't want you to feel too cocky on the GP track, MUCH less braking and WAY more speed, where as you can saw/throw a car around on a small track doing so will actually kill you on a big one!

Not insulting your skills - just wishing you a positive experience (I'm up to about 24 days on the GP track this year, only about 6 days on small tracks this year.)

You bet. A wise strategy, especially on some of the bigger tracks. Id make sure that there are instructors there your first day; EVERYONE needs them, including instructors who've never driven the track.
