A private day is being held. A maximum of 18 cars. Hot catered lunch is provided. Instructors. Well organized. Three 20 minute run groups.

Its a good day.

The costs are:
If 18 cars - $450 per.
If 15 cars - $540 per.
If 12 cars - $675 per.

I have confirmed but ONLY if there are 18 cars. Ie Im #18. There are currently only 6 cars registered.

Anyone else want to join? Info below. It is being run by Apex (they do a great job).

* this event is limited to only 18 drivers.
* attendance by invitation only, and restricted to recommended drivers...
this is NOT a 'public' day.
* three groups of 6 cars at a time on the track, running 20 minute sessions.
Lots of 'open road' running with plenty of room ahead and behind, and more
track-time than any sane person should willingly submit to...
* the run groups will be determined based on drivers' experience, and their
cars' performance parameters.
* professional advanced driver-training coaches will be available to all,
mandatory for less experienced drivers.
* ambulance on-site
* catered, hot lunch is included.
* the track will be open from 9am to 5pm
* mandatory drivers meeting at 8:30 sharp
* a classroom session conducted by Malcolm Elston is mandatory for those
who've driven Mosport less than twice before, followed by a lead / follow
track introduction behind one of the driving coaches. Safety First.

Deposit $450 for 18 cars $540,00 for 15 cars 675.00 for 12 cars
there currently is six confirmed

Cut-off date for Registration: Friday, May 27th

what do you mean a guest? As in another driver in another car? Or a friend to drive around with in your car?

Id just email Malcolm and ask him what you want to do. They want this day filled (to 18 cars, which is a very low number).

The problem is that people dont want to be on the hook for a higher amount should fewer cars register. If you are worried about that, just say you are in ONLY at $450 (which is what I and another friend have done).

Com'mon folks - lots of driving (250km worth!). Tons of fun! Well organized! Great instructors for all who want one!

I'm interested! I'll send him an e-mail.

Althought the hot lunches always sound good I learned to eat light, it slows you down to have the blood working your digestive system and not the brain.

Will there be open passing? Now that I've done a testing day I can't imagine going back to Porsche Club with "passing zones" I love the extra fun!

There will probably be three passing zones.

I dont think that I would attend if passing is not controlled. You cannot mess with Mosport and you dont want to get divebombed yourself.

Dude! You GOTTA do the HRC school and get your license! I was at a test day on the 12th with FULLY open lapping - CASCARS, Porsches, BMW M3s, etc.

Divebombed?

I was in the middle of three cars wide into/in turn 2! (CASCAR on the outside (i;m pretty sure with two wheels in the grass) and a GT3 on the other side) OK, that was a little dangerous because I'm a novice and the CASCAR guys are Yahoos of the first order - but I've never had so much fun!

You learn to manage your car "off the perfect line" but you also learn that the perfect line is theoretical at best - watch your mirrors and drive your line - its about trusting the other drivers (something I wouldn't do if the guys aren't licensed and actually race or are training to race (like me:smile:))

Yes, Mosport is dangerous, but so is any track if you're not careful - Mosport is more dangerous because it amplifies amateur mistakes, like breaking/lifting in turn 2...

I admit I suck, but I can remember to stay on the power and I don't drive faster than I feel comfortable, so its up to the other guy to pass me in turn 2, I'm not passing.

Come to think of it, I hardly passed the whole day (there was this 1980's CVIC hatchback...) but I was passed (all the time), and it felt great!

Stu - youre wacked.

Wacked by the fun stick!

Ask Rui, whats better than open lapping with good drivers?

Well, if Im out there with good drivers, then they're all passing me and Ive got zilch to gain from open passing. Just what I need, everyone passing me in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5abc, 7,8,9,10!

NSX
$1100.00 Fr fender
$ 3800.00 R quarter
???????? door
One mishap and I could buy another decent track car
Best to do what I do. Buy performance parts for your car then have no money left to go to the track:biggrin:

Yep - no doubt, a mishap could be expensive.

But you're very likely covered by insurance. That said, I think it would have to be a largish amount for me to report such an incident. On the street I bet for $5k Id report it. On the track its probably more like $15k, maybe $20k.

These days its less likely, the new "Standard" policy wording is precluding coverage on race tracks regardless of the reason for bing there (you may not even be covered for your tow vehicle that brought your car to the track - based on my quick read of one policy)

BTW - Apex dude never got back to me - Dave, did you warn him or something?

If you want to come on the 5th, email him. THey're still looking for ppl. I think theyre at 13 now.

My buddy just deposited his insurance cheque for his S2000 that he totaled at Mosport a few weeks ago. I know that my policy wording allows for coverage as long as Im 1) not being timed or 2) not in preparation for racing.

Can u find out what company? I'm having trouble getting good coverage for the Porsche Trackster.

Dave, I invited Thomas (the P Turbo guy from the Hanson day) You got his #? I lost it, but sent him email - if we phone him he may come!

Also, there's a Ferrari Day this Friday if your interested - I may go!

I dont have Thomas' number Stu - but I bet that Peter has it.

Tell me more about this Ferrari day. Im in NY on Thursday and I probably should be in the office on Friday, but WTH, track's more fun.

I'm not so sure its going to be nice weather - but the Ferrari Club is having their track day and they have a non-Ferrari Catagory that Peter recommended I try out (Derek is Head Instructor for the club)

You need to talk to Dennis Sakamoto his email is first inital last name at rogers (trying not to get him more spam:wink:)

Dave, I've emailed you the form.

I'm be at the FCA track day on friday too.

And for those hooked on the DDT, OMSC is having a lapping day for advanced drivers only on Sunday. Its pretty cheap - something like $150 bucks. I might do that one too if they have vacant spots still available. For more info check their website - omsc.ca

Hooked on the DDT? Thats like saying you're addicted to decaf coffee.

Rui - are you instructing or driving? everything Ive seen about this day leads me to believe that if you're not in a gay car (Ferrari or Maser), then you're not allowed over 130kph.
