Here is the reply received from AutoCheck (Experian) Customer Service:


Hello,

    All of the information that is posted to our website is verified

documentation from the State or DMV.  There currently is no law requiring

insurance companies to report accident information to the State or DMV.  If

you wanted this accident information on our vehicle history report, you

would need to contact the insurance company that handled this matter and

have them report it to the State. The State can then fax us documentation on

their letterhead of the accident that occurred. We then may be able to post

this information to the report. Our fax number is (847) 944-3074. Thank you!

As for the comment about taking things into our own hands being pointless - the last time someone tried this we were successful in getting him to withdraw the auction. That's one in the "win" column in my book.
