Hey guys,

Purchased a set of MOOG outer tie rod ends which are supposed to be really good. However, the rod end vertical bolt w/threads is about 1.25mm larger in circumference than the knuckle sleeve hole. Anyone come across this? Not sure if I should remove the knuckle sleeve washer and drill it out larger or if I should return the parts. Trying not to pay for OEM tie rod ends because they are so expensive and MOST parts can be replaced with aftermarket components for most vehicles.

Who has encountered this before with your NSX or another vehicle and what are my options? I am unable to actually locate that part for future reference if I were to make the hole larger now and want to buy a back up set for a future oem pair of tie rod ends.

Teej,

I'm afraid I can't help you directly with this particular matter, but I believe that you might want to go with OEM for cutting or altering the sleeve hole may result in future problems. Personally, I went with OEM for the price difference wasn't too terribly bad.

Yeah I already placed a different order for some parts that are "guaranteed exact fitment" and see how that goes. Puts me behind schedule a few more days.

Putting this information out there for anyone looking into MOOG tie rods in the future. Not that I doubted Teej but I wanted to see for myself in case they updated the part.

It is, in fact, still the same part and will not fit.

Moog Part # ES800826
Moog Part # ES800827

Bolt measured out with a caliper to be 12mm on the Moog. OEM bolt is 10mm.

Also, stamping on the part itself is CTR / Central Corporation Made in Korea. From research, MOOG are reboxing CTR products, which is common for these companies to do.

Know where to purchase dezza outer rods?

Did a quick search and Amazon has one side (Left). Couldn't find anyone who stocked the right side. For reference in your search the part numbers are:

Deeza AC-T602 Front Left Outer
Deeza AC-T604 Front Right Outer

Also for reference are the OEM part numbers:

53560-SL0-A01 Front Left Outer
53540-SL0-A01 Front Right Outer

When in doubt go OEM.

Deeza is no longer making the outer tie rod ends. The right side ends on Amazon appear to be the only ones left on the market.

Yup. Unfortunately another part added to the NSX unobtainium parts list.

There are three sets (sold as a pair) of OEM tie rod end on eBay right now (as of 6/29/17 8:57AM PDT) - seller is in Japan. Looks to have good feedback.

Also - both OEM part numbers are available at www.amayama.com

You can get them cheaper and faster thru acurapartsforless.com with '5nsx' code. Comes out to be $154.60 shipped for me. May vary depending on your shipping location.

I emailed Dan at Acura Parts for Less and he has 10 of the left and 7 of the right. Get 'em while they're hot!

No problem currently getting them from Acura in the states. After finding out Deeza was no longer making them I ordered a set this morning from Acura Parts for Less. If they go on BO check with Mark Parez on FB NSX Prime or the NSX Owners' Site. Mark will most likely be able to get them for you from Japan and ship them at a reasonable price

Might as well do the inners too.Deeza still makes the inner tie rod ends. You can get them from MLBearings.com

$45.18 for the pair.
If you do buy the Deeza inner tie rods you'll need to buy the lockwashers from Acura. 53536-SB2-000 @ $3.56 ea

Bumping this because I just went through the whole tie rod deal. This is more so for the inner tie rods as almost all the supply of Deeza is gone for the outer and I just went with OEM. The inner tie rods are available from Carbon6 as well and they give you everything to get going, dust boot(20 bucks for oem), lock washer (3.70 for oem), dust boot clamps or zip ties and a pair of tie rods for 90 bucks. It is a great option if you need to replace both at essentially 45 bucks a side.

The tie rods also use a hex nut to tighten against the steering rack which makes the install easier.

In case anyone is wondering, the MOOG parts haven't changed and the threads on the outer tie rod ends are still too large. I can't re-use my old rod end because the threads were already stripped out and the nut's only being held on by the cotter pin...

The Deeza aftermarket parts are long gone now.

Before I shell out for the OEM parts, are there any remaining aftermarket brands out there? CTR is the same as MOOG, Autozone's Duralast looks like the same big threads, NAPA's brand looks the same as above so might also be a re-brand. They all look to have the same design with the nylon locknut instead of a castle nut as well.

As post #5 says, the bolt diameter of the MOOG ends is too large to fit inside the tie rod end bushing on the knuckle. The only solution to make them fit would be to drill out the knuckle bushing larger, which is probably not a good idea and not something I'd be willing to do. Unfortunately this is true for the CTR parts as well, and I would assume the rest of the brands I listed above, though any input otherwise would be appreciated.

Also love your VF NSX stickers Teej, bought some off FB a while ago . Loved seeing the Macross references and all that.

EDIT: The MOOG website advertises these tie rod ends as fitting 95-05 NSX. The Honda part numbers are the same for all model years, but did they do away with the knuckle bushing in those years? I don't see why they wouldn't work for 90-94 if they're meant for 95-05.
