Greetings,
I would like to begin a member’s ride thread strictly dedicated to modifications. When I started my aftermarket modification quest a thread like this would have helped greatly. Yes, I am aware of WIKI and the search button. If enough cars get posted hopefully the thread will get stickied by a moderator. To all that have posted on Prime thank you for your input and guidance.
Only three basic rules apply:
1. Must have picture of at least one aftermarket modification
2. Include specs on your modifications (brief impressions help)
3. Keep conversations to PMs
1991 Berlina Black
Aesthetics
1. Downforce Type R Hood
2. Downforce Rear Diffuser
3. Downforce Sports Front Lip
4. Downforce Type R Wing – Waiting on replacement due to blems
5. Downforce 2002 Conversion
6. Downforce Rear Window Garnish
7. DYI Zanardi style mesh side vent – Use a 22 mm wrench cut in half for install
8. Cantrell Carbon Mesh Engine Cover
Interior
1. Recaro Pole Positions – Comfi and fit the cabin nicely. I’m 6’1, 185 lbs
2. Custom Seat Brackets – Very few aftermarket options. I had to find a local welder to fab a set
3. Momo Jet 350mm Steering Wheel – I had a Team 300mm which was too small for no power steering IMO
4. NRG Hub and Quick Release
Performance
1. Short Shift Kit w/ Dali Type R Stainless Knob – The combo truly reduces the overall throw
2. Custom Intake w/ integrated velocity stack and carbon piping – Butt dyno gives two thumbs up. I researched similarly horse-powered vehicles and found a kit that consistently dyno’d 6-7 rear wheel horse power. The carbon piping also helps with heat soak..
3. Cantrell Headers with ARIC exhaust – The combo lives up to Science of Speed claims. Vast improvement over stock
4. RPS Clutch – VERY VERY VERY STIFF.
5. Odyssey 680 Battery w/ Dali Aluminum Mount
Suspension and Chassis (All of these mods complimented one another very nicely)
1. Type R Bracing
2. Type R Front Sway Bar
3. Type S Rear Sway Bar
4. Type S Springs
5. Bilstein Shocks – With Type S springs and lower perch the car is at a good height for a non-adjustable setup.
Wheels & Tires
1. Volk GTV 17 x 8 +38, 18 x 10 +40 - Offset is a little aggressive but the wheels clear BBK with no spacers.
2. Nitto NT01 225/45 front and 275/40 rear – Fronts rub and backs just barely clear. I would definitely go with a lower series up front if your car is lowered. Best performing tire IMO.
Brakes
The Brake Man Storm Brake Kit. Tornado 4 piston calipers, 13.00" diameter 2 pc. rotors mounted on aluminum hats, #62 or #3 brake pad compounds for street or track, braided brake lines. This is not a plug and play system. The calipers had to be shimmed, the rotors turned and the brake shields needed to be cut. Unfourantly after having the rotors turned there is now a rust ring near the hats. Racing pads are LOUD for street use. Overall the system stops good!
