When I started up my car this evening for a little drive I heard a clanking sound coming from the engine compartment. I shut off the engine, checked to oil which was okay, and then started it up again. When I turned the A/C off, the sound stopped, and when I turned it on the sound started again. I figure the problem is with the A/C. Does this mean my A/C compressor is going bad? Is there any diagnostic tool that I can use to determine if I need to replace it. My A/C works fine and does not exhibit any wierd symptoms.

As a matter of fact, my A/C is so cold that I can hardly use it set below 74 degrees.

-Thanks

Might be low on oil. Are you running R134 or R12?
