Last week i noticed this weird noise from my tranny in 2nd, though no weird noises in 3rd.
Sounded like a vacuum or something.
Drove up to Magny-Cours and back (appr. 1300 KM). Then this morning i noticed this weird noise when i was driving in reverse......
Odd.....
Later when going for a further inspection, i noticed the stick rocking back and forward in 2nd.........

Merde! The snapring!

No TSB here.
Just lucky my gears are still oke, though i feel this urge for short-gears......

120.000 Kilometers, raced for one season (and won) in the Euro Trophy.
In snapring range (near the end).

Just had to blow of some steam...

(can you hear the violins playing?)

I am sorry for your damage.

Dutchy,

Sounds just like what happened to mine at 52K miles. The stickshift will rock back and forth in 1st and 2nd gear while accelerating and decelerating and have a nasty noise. It's gonna run around $7k for a new transmission and install. Another $1200 for the short gears. It totally sucks that Acura won't honor the "good will" on the Snap Ring Failure due to the age of the vehicle (that's what they told me regardless of the low miles).

Check out the FAQ on the Snap ring failure: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Troubleshooting/transmission.htm

That's a bad news ! Well, at least you have a good excuse to install the short gears !

I don't think that you will come to Monza ?

David

Cost will approx be 800 USD for tranny case (last time i checked it was) and 1200 for the shorts.
Do all the work myself, so add some small stuff.

Think i might be able to make it to Monza.

Merde again!

Dutchy,

Sorry to hear, but the good news is you understand the problem and you can easily save the trans.

You mentioned 120,000 km, if my math is correct that is about 72k miles. Maybe you will need to plan on a clutch too??

Thankx Larry,

When i did my 100.000 Kilometer service i got my clutch replaced ( stock

DBN,
Sorry to hear about your problem. Nice to hear/read you know how to fix it yourself. That at least minimizes the cost. Since I'm leaving for the US tonight I'm afraid I can't stay updated but I get back to you as soon as I'm back again. Hope you have it fixed by then.
