mechanical whine (or screech) 1994 NSX

I have an intermittent loud whine or screech sound, lasts for 20 seconds or so, then disappears.

The after market security system will leave the car on when the engine is turned off until the door opens, and just today I had the screeching sound right before I shut the car off, and it continued after engine shutoff until opening the door cut the power.

So it would seem to be some motor or pump not driven from the engine, to my laymen's way of thinking.

I have the car at the Acura dealership for a second time; does anyone have any thoughts on what it could be?

Good point, I was not thinking that, but it makes sense.

To the OP: Check if the sound is coming from under the front hood. That would be kind of a whirling sound.
