MCO Event at Calabogie

Just in case you weren't yet sick of the Calabogie talk.... Just wanted to make sure y'all knew about the Motorsports Club of Ottawa event. October 14 and 15.

More details at:

I'm signed up for the 14th, apparently it's a good BBQ :-)

It looks like the most time a driver will have will be at the BBQ - FOUR (no make that five) Run Groups? You'll get less than two hours of track time in two days...I'm skipping this one!:frown:

It's designed to be an inaugural event welcoming all to the track. I'm sure there will be other days targetting specific groups in the future.

I'm actually happy about all the run groups. As a novice, I want to be on the track with people of similar experience, and not have to worry about holding up experienced drivers.

Its safe for novices to be out with other novices (for the most part) IF there are experienced instructors in all of the cars too - I applaud you for knowing your limitations.

BUT for me, an Advanced driver, I'm not sure I want to drive 5 hours towing my car and be away from my family for two days, all for two hours of track time.

If i lived in Ottawa it would be a different story.

As I understand it, instructors will be available but not mandatory. I will have an instructor with me, who also happens to be a good friend.

Understood, makes sense. I'm 40 minutes from the track so it's not a big deal. I'm not sure if the financials make sense or not. I'm paying $150 for one day which includes the (apparently excellent) BBQ. If I'm only on the track for an hour, is that expensive or not? For example, I know a guy offering two hours of track time for $120, although it is not structured at all.

The other thing about having all the different categories up there at once is it's more fun for spouses / spectators, to see a lot of different cars, including open-wheel race cars.
