I'm a motorcycle and car guy - have been for a long time. In motorcylces Honda gives ground to no one. Check out their new CBR1000 RR, or CBR600RR. Check it out here: http://powersports.honda.com/motorcycles/sport/.
Some tests, comparing the top new 1 litre sport bikes, rank Honda number 1 (www.motorcycle.com), with specs like a quarter mile time under 10 seconds @ 145 MPH!! from a stock $11,000 CBR 1000 RR, or in the low 11 second range @ 130+ MPH from a 600 CC engine putting out 170 HP/litre for $8,600 in the CBR 600 RR!!! More impressive is the engineering - read it for yourself, but motorcycle engineering is as sophisticated as Forumula 1.
I find it hard to believe that a company that wants to dominate one form or motor vehicle (motorcycles) would be content to be an "also ran" in the larger car market. As much as I'd love to buy a new $60K NSX, I doubt that will happen.
Like many of us, I'm somewhat financially challenged. But for $10K I get all the grins I can handle on a sportbike. Take the Keith Code Superbike class ($2,000 for two days, everything included http://superbikeschool.com/us/index.shtml or take the basic class for $400 using your bike) and wait to see what Honda Motors does with the HSC.
By the time the new car comes out, you'll have had a world of fun on the bike, and you'll be able to sell it for 75% of what you paid for it. Insurance is dirt cheap, at least relative to a car if you get liability only, and service and parts are reasonable as well. Get a good set of riding gear (budget $1,500, you can do it for less) and you're done. Learning to ride a bike will make you a better car driver too - not a lot of room for error with two tires!
