Maybe None of them Voted for Him!?

I read that this morning too. Maybe he thought he was still on a ranch in Wyoming? He's always come across as an arogant ass to me anyway, so I'm not that surprised.

Shameful. I dress nicer when I go out for dinner. He should learn to show a little respect.

Showing respect?
You obviously have very little experience with advanced heart disease and harsh climates.

Aside from that, he had formal clothes underneath the intentionally functional jacket. Then today after the blowing snow/freezing raing/wind subsided he wore a traditional suit/tie and scarf during his tour of Auschwitz.

Actually, as a physician, I have a great deal of experience with heart disease. (Advanced and otherwise). I treat it 5-7 days a week. And, as the article clearly stated, he had no problem facing the freezing weather in a suit and overcoat at his inauguration. I saw no mention of formal clothes in the article.

"The Post's Givhan said Cheney might have been hoping to avoid the cold weather in Oswiecim, but noted he had worn a dark overcoat and no hat at all at another recent winter occasion -- his own swearing-in ceremony on Inauguration Day on Jan. 20 in snow-dusted Washington."

Sig, Sig, Sig - SCS2K is a doctor that knows what he is talking about.

Regardless, Cheney is a nappy turd for "not dressing the part" of properly representing the USA.

Oh, waiter, can you get me the name of the Panama Tailor? VP Cheney needs some help when she goes shopping.

OK Doctor:)

The point is, taking potential health issues and making them a political issue is laughable. Without bias involved, the logical question would be asked before getting bent out of shape is pondering the possibility that he may not have been feeling well that day? Very possible.

In addition, he was wearing a pink tank top underneath the jacket. If it was an indoor ceremony, there would have been no press on his attire. Since it was outdoors, all of sudden there are a bunch of politically opposed quasi-Joan Rivers' coming out of the closet to cry fowl.

Then of course, being a good doctor, he would be intimately familiar with the fact that those who suffer from such conditions have drastic daily swings on how they feel. Same weather conditions, different days..... these individuals experience the same conditions quite differently. Though I don't have two letters after my name on a business card, I have spent years with way too many family members who had similar conditions.

With that said, maybe he felt fine both days and just made a bad choice on the jacket.

Let's also not forget that very warm, comfortable dressy clothes are also available to be bought. One needn't show up to a funeral wearing the same outfit that he's going duck hunting in later this week.

Of course! Doesn't everyrone?

It was a mistake.. I'm sure all of you have made one at least once in your life..

Talk about the man's political beliefs and how it is affecting this country and all of us.. Criticize his ability to be an effective leader and vice president.
Thats something worth talking about.

I have to agree with Sig, the man made a mistake.. just like;

Former President Ronald Reagan when he called the press who interrupted a cabinet meeting "Sons of bitches".

Former President Bill Clinton with Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky.

Should we start calling each other's mothers names now?

Get a grip guys. Are we men or a bunch of clucking hens in the NSX hen house debating fashion?

This thread is better suited for the Oprah forum. My $.02

Can it be only 4 years since 9-11-01?

What passes for news these days....sheesh.

this tool was born into it, not even voted in.

hmmm... Atleast no one was offended or alienated outright by VP Cheney's fashion faus paux.

However, this mother of all idiots takes the cake. . .

Top politicians (just like top executives, celebrities, etc) have staff members whose job it is to check out all arrangements prior to events, including attire, protocol, etc.

Maybe all of Cheney's staff quit because he kept using his favorite line, "Go f**k yourself!" :D

Perhaps he uses that uncooth mantra to further differentiate himself from the previous administration's favorite line used on their staff.... "Don't f**k yourself, let me do it!"

Well, no one in the previous administration was such an "arrogant ass" (as White92 put it) to use such language in public, as Cheney did (towards a Senator, no less). Remember too his second most-widely used expression, "major league a*****e", caught on tape during the previous campaign.

Most top politicians (again, just like top executives and celebrities) are smart enough (and have enough class) to avoid such language in public...

It was a JOKE, hence the 'biggrin' punctuation! No need to get worked up on a play-on-words that was quoted from the previous post ('Go F yourself') and trying have a laugh over past political exploits with staff members. Perhaps I should joke about Repbulican sexual exploits instead (lord knows there's plenty of those). Rep. or Dem. jokes, I laugh at both equally, so it doesn't matter to me.

Second, I completely agree that type of language is highly inappropriate, especially coming from a VP. Which is precisely why I referred to it as 'uncooth'. I don't see anyone defending such things

Let's try to take jokes for what they are, simply a tool intended to make us laugh.

The man made a mistake. Big deal. I would have rather dressed comfortably than to look nice. Sorry thats just me. I have been in enough cold weather situations to understand that sometimes function over looks is the way to go, and nothing makes me more mad when someone comes over and tells me to dress accordingly to look better while a freeze. And for him talking like that in public. You talk like none of you have ever spoken like that in public. At least he has the balls to talk what is on his mind. And we all know most senators are not the most perfect people on the planet.

He's not really dressed all that different than the people sitting next to him... I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Call it a wardrobe malfunction and get on with life. I would only criticize had he dressed in a distasteful manner on purpose or to make a statement that was unfitting. I don't think he was doing either.

Well said, 19dcavscout. I agree on each point.
