I have a 91 with 30K and know a timing belt change is well overdue. Neither my local Acura dealer nor the other shop I use have much experience of the NSX.
Can anyone recommend a shop in the Fort Myers / Naples, Florida area, with good NSX experience. I don't want mechanics learning on my car.

I can recomend one NOT to go to.
DO NOT NOT NOT GO TO THE ACURA DEALERSHIP ON 41!!!!!! in FMY.
"m3456y" here at prime is in FMY and has the best handle on this kind of work for the NSX.
P/M him and ask for his advice. Tell him "Wink" said to get hold of him.
He might have time to do it himself but I doubt it.
He'll know.

Cheers

I am in Naples. If you are talking standard maintenance, the Naples Acura dealer is good. There is one NSX mechanic there who is trustworthy, knows the car well, and who has handled routine maintenance for me for some time. There is another shop in town near the Naples airport (forgetting the name now), whose owner has an NSX and has been working on a few of them for some time supposedly. In addition, he has extensive forced induction/tuning experience I am told. I have not given him a shot.

My car has a CTSC/AEM and methanol (like the guy referenced in Ft. Myers) and for tuning/special stuff I go to the East Coast of Florida.

Thank you all for your replies.

Nigel, I agree. Like you my bad dealer experience was at the one in Ft. M on 41. I will never go back there.

I've been using Hunt Automotive in Ft. Myers for six years. They work on all top end cars (Ferrari, Porche, Lambo, GT40 etc.) An excellent shop with really good mechanics but I believe my NXS is the only one they have worked on, so I'm not sure about entrusting them with a timing belt change. When we last discussed it they suggested I leave well alone, but I got the feeling that they would rather not take on the job. I do know the owner well enough to ask him straight out and if they would rather I go elsewhere I will take your advice and try the Naples dealer.

jmp - As routine maintenance, have you had a timing belt changed and was it done by the Naples dealer?

Thanks.

It's a drive from Naples but First Class Auto in Orlando usually has four or five NSX's there getting something done. There are at least two Acura NSX certified techs/owners there and he owns an NSX too. Great work/good prices and super nice crew. I would drop off the car and head to disney. Make a day of it. Central FL NSXers are super lucky to have them!

You should call Nabil at First Class Automotive here in Orlando. Nobody in Florida works on or has his level of experience with NSX's and his prices are great. It would be worth it for you to spend a weekend at Disney and have your maintenance done then.

Are you joking?!?!?! One minute apart posts and thinking the same thing right down to disney? Too cool!

Thanks,
Woh, two recommendations for the same shop. First Class Auto must be good, although I hate everything Disney so I would need to find something else to do for a day. Should be no problem!
The only downside is the distance from me if there were any corrections to make after the job was done. It would be a long way to travel just to let them check on something. But it's good to know there is a shop with lots of experience.

:biggrin: Great minds think alike!...and know the best place to get NSX service. My car's there right now (along with a newer silver, maybe yours?).

Yeah that is mine! I am having the car lowered to prepare for the new wheels and I had the calipers powdercoated red by a powdercoating company downtown which they are rebuilding. Hey....there is another thread that says there's no such thing an Acura/Honda certified NSX tech. I swear Nabil has these plaques postered around the front office. I need to snap a pic of that plaque to post to prove someone here in NSX land wrong. I am am still trying to get luxautica to let us hold an event in there parking lot in early april, but you need to pull that BBQ together. I think that was you that wanted to do that with the Viper club. Is that your car getting the engine rebuild? Wei-Shen's car has been there almost all week too.

I'll talk with my neighbor this weekend about the BBQ.

I sure hope they're not rebuilding the engine,, It's getting a TB/WP, new cam plugs and coil packs.

If I were you, Nabil is a great choice my 91 is heading there in a couple weeks for watever he says needs done. That is how much I trust him. Todd hope to see you at Celebration

i have used acura dealer in naples for routine stuff (mainly cause i get a loaner and it is convenient) but beyond that i have not been impressed. a friend with forced induction car recommends bill at moorings mobile. 263.9404. he says, bill used to work for acura dealer, is/was nsx certified and has done timing belt and water pump on his car. i have no experience with bill but intend to find out b/c belt change just around the corner.

JMP, is Bill who you are referring to or someone else?
