Main Relay?

I tried a search but didn't find exactly what happened to me.
I was on my way home today and my car died about 5 times randomly. Each time all the electronics (gauges, stereo, hvac and clock) would go out. It would last from a second or two, to about 10-15 seconds one time.
The clock's time reset as well if that helps at all. I'm thinking main relay?

And/Or the ignition switch. Both are relatively cheap to replace anyway.

The only thing that keeps me from thinking its the ignition switch is the fact that the clock reset. I checked the batter terminals as well, and they are tight and corrosion free.

Doesn't sound like main relay to me. Main relay only cuts on/off the fuel, so the car might stall or die, or even hesitate. But I don't see how the main relay would cause all the electrical power to cut out.

Sounds like one of your battery terminals is loose.

The clock should not reset. Its not the main relay or the ignition switch. Check the connection to the front relay/fuse box.

Anyone notice if your battery terminal(ground) have a small metal pin in it? Meaning the cable cant be tight enough so some throw a metal pin in there to tighten it even more?

I was working under the hood and saw it. Loosen the screw and the pin fell out. Without it the terminal cable just spin around.

Went to walmart got a replacement cable for $6 buck.. No more spinning..

Might check your terminal for this.

Also check the connection where the negative terminal is bolted to the car's firewall.

Went and checked the terminals again. Though they were tight I loosened them, rotated the a bit and tightened them down harder.
Took it out for a 20 min drive....all seems fine!
