26 hp/liter! :D

Its all about perspective

The ad says "Its a truly unique driving experience". Yeah, I bet it is. Nothing like you've ever driven before. It does get good gas mileage though. ;)

Strange but true...

Actually it was an inline 6 and could be made to run fairly well. I remember seeing them run on the high banks at Daytona. Probably around 140-150mph top end on 80s street tires.

See 26th place in the 1981 Daytona 6 Hours.

See also 4th place overall in the FIA World Challenge for Endurance Drivers... Dick Barbour appearing in various races in a Porsche 935 or an AMC Pacer:)

And the only car disqualified for being too slow... Car #82... a Ford Pinto, my first car. :p

I thought that thing had to be the lowest HP per liter (a 90hp 2.0liter 4cyl). Ford put a 3 speed automatic transmission in the 72 Pinto I had. That poor engine would be up at what sounded like 10,000rpms at 65MPH, with a blazing top speed of 82mph that required a 3 mile stretch of totally flat highway to reach it.

Ah good times...
