lowering my car question?

I did research and I didn't really get the answer I one so I'll ask away here. I lowered my car about 2 months ago with comptech sports spring (1 inch drop) and stock shocks. At first I thought the front was kinda high about three finger gap in between the tires and the fender, the rear was a perfect drop. I thought I'll let the front setted in and see if it gets lower. Now 2 months later the front is still high I can still put three fingers in between the tire and the fender. Do you think if I was to buy aftermarket shocks will it lower the front more? TIA

I dont think the purpose of shocks is to lower the car unless you buy the bilsteins which do have a lower perch. If you want new shocks and want it lower then go with the bilsteins, i am thinking about ordering some also.

I hope you didn't mix up the front and rear springs. I suggest going with the Eibach Pro Kit (small drop) and the Bilsteins (higher or lower perch). That will maintain the front/rear height relation of the stock car and look cool.

No the springs are right. The rear has some number then a "r" after those number on the comptech spring. The "r" means rear and the "f" means front. After 2 months the the front still isn't lowered. I don't want to swap out the comptech spring it too much work, and plus I think it's easier on me just to work on on the getting some aftermarket shocks for the front to see if it gets more lower. I wonder how much does the bilstein shock lower the car more with my comptech sports spring?

the Bilstein shock design allows for lowering the car the same amount no matter what spring is attached to it; OEM or aftermarket, the net drop is the same. Also, you should have the same drop front and rear with the CT springs as they are quality parts. When you are taking everything apart to install the shocks make sure the rubber bumper parts in the top cap are not messed up.

My question is, will the bilstein shock lower the car front more with the CT springs?

Here's how high the front looks compare to the rear. The rear drop seems to be perfect for me, it's just the front that is bothering me.

I was totally stock and had 3 fingers gap in front and rear. I just put bilsteins on and now on the lower purch, I have 1-1/2 fingers gap. I hope that helps to get an idea.

Incidentally, I would think swaping out springs is easier than getting new shocks. I had it done, but I believe you totally remove the springs and mount them on the new shocks (spring compressor and all). Seems irelevant if you are using the same or different springs from a work load perspective. I also understand taht changing the purch is a lot of work as well, so once you go low, changing it up is a lot of work too.

Also, note that bilsteins stiffen up the ride a bit. If you already have stiff springs and add stiff shocks, your ride will be much stiffer, I would think.

Who's got the best deal on bilstein shocks?
Dali Racing (NSXprime username NSXGOD) and CGI Motorsports (NSXprime username Chuck).

The Bilstein shocks offer a choice of mounting perches. One perch maintains the same ride height as the stock shocks, and the lowering perch lowers it by 0.8 inch.

You can use the procedure in the service manual (page 18-6 of the 1991 manual, which is shown on page 651 of the .pdf file, which you can find here) to measure the ride height.

Is there a price different between the two, because the lower perch bilstein sounds good for another .08 drop on my front.

I believe the bilsteins come with both perches so you could switch it back and forth if needed.

You'll have to contact CGI for their prices.

(The drop is 0.8 inch, not 0.08...)

I wonder if your tires and wheels are in the same parameter as the OEM setup. as someone suggest, it's either the bump stop had been trimmed incorrectly or your rear tires are bigger than usual, (or front is smaller)

Your car look pretty good as is, don't worry about the stance, the ride quality and comfort will be seriously hampered as you go lower...

It is possible that the perches on the front are installed upside down while the perches on the rear are correct. This would cause the front to be high and not lowered as you expected. Look at the link from Dali.

wow, I didn't even notice that...I wonder what will happen if it was put on the other way? ....Stupid me, now I gotta double check if I put them on the right way...

Your rim tire size combo looks really good. What are the rim sizes and offsets?

I had a set of Comptech Sport springs and Koni Yellow's installed the other day and when I got the car back, it didn't seem like the car was lowered the 1" that these springs claim to lower the car. My mechanic measured the ride height before and after the install and the results are shown below. There is about a 3-4 finger gap between the tire and the fender in the front and the back and it looks as if the car wasn't even lowered at all. My brother has the same setup on his car, and his car looks significantly lower than mine. He's currently running a 17/18 combo, while I have 17s all around. Do you guys have any suggestions as to what could be the problem? The measurements for before and after install are as follows:

Before:
Front Left: 25 7/8" Front Right: 25 6/8"
Rear Left: 27 2/8" Rear Right: 27"

After:
Front Left: 25 4/8" Front Right: 25 4/8"
Rear Left: 26 4/8" Rear Right: 26 1/2"

Net Change:
Front Left: 3/8" Front Right: 2/8"
Rear Left: 6/8" Rear Right: 4/8"

Here are a couple of more pics taken in the day. The tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE040s 215/40/17 and 255/40/17.
