Lower Purge Air Hose on Charcoal Canister

Has anyone removed the lower hose, aka Purge Air Hose?

I couldn't remove mine, tried pulling it off, NG.

May have to jack the car up and get to it from underneath?

Is their a threaded extension on canister which prevents the hose from being pulled off?

I didn't feel a steel clamp fitting where the purge air hose is connected to the bottom of the cannister.

For whatever it's worth, the lower hose is not connected to the cannister on the side as shown in the service manual.
