I'm getting a loud cklicking noise when I turn on the AC fan. It will go away on it's own after 30 seconds, or when I switch the vent "Mode" to the defroster, but it will start again when I switch it to any other mode. The clicking frequency is about every 1/2 second. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gene

Hi Gene,

From your description it sounds like one of the door motor gears is skipping. The vent system uses cables, levers, and I think I recall at least one gear drive. It is like the system may be trying to open a stuck door.

Also some object in there blowing around??

Only things I can think of that would happen every 1/2 second:).

Good Luck,

Mine did that, startled me at first too. It ended up being the vent cover on the right side of the center console (integrated with the carpeting) had popped partway out and was blocking the arm that opens and closes the passenger vent in the dash above it.
Bad description, but if you look in that area you'll see what I mean.

My car also had this issue. My mechanic found it to be also be a blockage of one of the vent "doors". I believe a wire connection got stuck, once removed all worked fine
