looking for old friend "BADASSNSX"

I purchased the "BADASSNSX" four years ago and took it to South Korea while I was working for US ARMY MEDICAL center, and now I came back to U.S, brought the NSX with me.
I am having trouble to register the car due to lost of original title. The NSX is still registered in AZ under the previous owner's name (I never bother to registered NSX in U.S, I took the car to Korea).
I provided AZ DMV the copy of original title, the bill of sale, registration documents in Korea, import and export documents to proof that I am the owner of BADASSNSX and request AZ DMV to produce a duplicate title. The AZ DMV said in order to produce a new title I need to submit the original title (?????) or previous owner can request a duplicate title.
The previous owner's name is Michael Cooley and I have his old phone number but it turned out to be invalid number.

Begs the question...how do you have a copy of the original title and not the original title? That's gotta be the most important document of them all
