Looking for Clutch Replacement Input

My stock clutch is beginning to slip. It's always been "soft" since I've own the car but now it is beginning to slip under hard acceleration. My question is this...what are my replacement options for my '91 with 42,000 miles? Is a "racing" clutch (a la Davis Acura) overkill for someone who does not track the car? I always founds the OEM clutch very friendly but it does have far too much ride during use. However, I do not want a clutch designed specifically for something other than street use. I would like to new clutch to hook up faster and more crisply, but I don't want to car to become undriveable for my wife. That may be asking for a miracle...but it never hurts to dream.

Can anyone outline what my clutch options are and a ballpark cost for each (professionally installed)?

Is it worth it to rebuild my current OEM clutch?

Can I go with a "racing" clutch and keep my current flywheel (instead of a lightweight flywheel) or do I need to commit to the whole package?

Any info and insight would be greatly appreciated.

Many options, I recently installed the ACT clutch with the lightweight flywheel, and while it is a bit harder than the stock clutch, the benefits far outweigh the negatives.

Which flywheel? How much difference did you notice?

theeaman: Nothing wrong with the stock clutch. Unless you are going to FI it's a good choice.

The centerforce clutch operates just like the stock clutch. It does engage slightly "snapier" though.

I would check out what Dali has on his sight. My experience with Centerforce is they aren't that interested in the NSX clutch and are only doing it as a favor. I believe MB is the only authorized dealer. Centerforce lost there sales rep who was really a great guy. The person they have now that replaced him to say the least is an a**. Probably to much information but if you have to deal with them don't expect much in terms of customer service.

Beside that the clutch works great and I have had no problems with it.

Center Force Clutch with Tilton Light Flywheel

I just replaced my stock clutch with a Center Force unit and Dali racing Tilton Light flywheel. The setup works great together and I have no problem with chatter. I didn't notice much change in pedal pressure at all but I can tell you the clutch performs well once engaged your off. The unit costs 895 dollars plus a core charge of 250 if I remember correctly. The flywheel was 500. You will need to purchase new bearings which add 150 more to the numbers. Installation was 681 or something like that the Acura dealer wanted 800+ and they didn't know how to install the clutch properly. They made a mess of the first attempt and kept the car for two weeks before I took it to a real mechanic so make sure they know what they are doing. Check for references before you let them work on your car. I run a 125 HP shot of Nos and they work great together. Corvette owners will hate you.
