I just purchased a 05 NSX and had it 3 hours when a tractor trailer rear ended me. Can anyone tell me the best place to take this vehicle for repair? I want it to be as near to showroom perfect as it can be...I mean hell, I only had the car 3 HOURS and I'm absolutely SICK about it!!! I'm not looking for a local chop shop...I seriously want the best working on the car so it is like new again.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

Rob

Ouch! My sympathies. I have no answer for you but you need to tell everyone where you are located to get an answer to your question. Good luck making her perfect again.

Thanks guys! I'm in Peoria, IL but the car is now in NY at a body shop. I was in PA when the truck hit me and State Farm had it sent to a shop referred by the dealer I purchased it from. I'm thinking of getting a second opinion.

I appreciate your replies!

Rob

In NY look up nsxtasy's hot link to VincesAutoBody, excellent work:).

I just bought an '05 myself and felt sick after reading your post. I wish you the best of luck in finding an excellent place to set everything right for your car. Keep us posted.

Yes, I would definitely take it to Vince's, which is about an hour north of New York City. Great place

And let THEM take care of negotiating with the insurance company...

I have heard Vinny in Florida is great. He always has NSX's in his shop being repaired. He only does high-end cars.
And another one is First Class Euro Auto in Pompano, FL, at 954-785-3784. They do all the aluminum body work for Ferrari, and my experience with John Schreppel is that he's forgotten more about NSX structural repairs than most people will ever know! He's THAT good.

Only three hours! I would be so pissed my new car was now accident damaged :frown:

Good luck on the repair work

Not only does Vince's (Joe) do great work on NSX's , the owner has one himself and is intimately aware of all the nuances of working on the car. I've seen some of the cars in our region that Joe has had to repair, and you can't tell them from new!! Sorry to hear of your misfortune, get it fixed quickly, and arrange to pick it up the weekend of 4/16-17 and come and join us all at Bridgewater Acura Day!!!

Whatever happens, and I am very sorry to hear about the accident, do not just let your or their insurance dictate where it is to go. Also, I could care less that the dealership wants to send it where they do business - stop, take a big breath and then put the brakes on anything as it relates to that car.

Locate a shop you are comfortable with regardless of where it is and have the car taken there. You have to assume control of this matter or the insurance company will. Consider that this is an expensive exotic and it has now suffered a dimunition in value permanently because of this. Even if repaired perfectly, I would think 10% is likely. Tell the insurance company they can buy the car outright from you, replace the car with a new one, etc. Don't be afraid to think outside of the box here.

Of course if the truck just barely touched you, this might be all moot. In my mind, when a tractor hits you, it probably is not a light touch.

Good luck -

Thanks again for all the posts!

No it wasn't a light touch but supposedly the frame has no damage. The people currently inspecting the car say it's only cosmetic work...but the total will probably be over $30k to fix. I was doing 38 mph in third gear when this trucker hit me doing about 60 or 65 mph...straight up my azz.

I'm taking a good look at Vince's Auto Body Works in NY.

Seriously...I appreciate all of the replies. Hopefully I'll overcome this tragedy...it's almost like loosing my first born (don't tell my wife I said that  ).

I live in the area of Vince's and have seen some of their work and would reccomend you bring your car there. Joe is extremely knowledgeable and knows these cars in and out. I did some work on my own car (whereas i work at another body shop in the area) and when I stopped by to see Joe he gave me tips on how things should be from the factory, things that only a true specialist would know... as far as fitment and spacing of body panels, etc. Anyways, I would seriously consider atleast looking Vince's up and speaking with Joe a bit about your repairs, His personal NSX is immaculate to say the least... so thats a good sign of how he operates and how yours will end up after repairs.

Good Luck...
Chris

Just another reason to use Joe and Vince's Auto Body. He would never attempt to shill his own business by pretending he is not affiliated with it as part of a recommendation. As a repeat satisfied customer of Vince's with my NSX, I would recommend them to anyone who expects only the best for their NSX bodywork.

Come on Bob, give the kid a break, he just got his NSX, is still in diapers (at least he didn't tout how young he is), and didn't know that some of us are sophisticated enough to check the info that he posted on himself (how stupid can a kid be to post the info, and then feign ignorance). He might need a lawyer in the near future, and I've never known you to bash a potential client!!!!

I just wanted him to understand that this was not a good way to "introduce" himself to the "family." Gotta look out for my current clients and friends first before worrying about new clients.

You guys crack me up.

dotcom...I noticed you said it's at a shop in NY now, which one?

Seriously though, from the technical discussions I have had with Vince, he knows what he is talking about! I would trust him with my car!

hahaha nothing like a little self advertisement... incognito.

It was a good try though, sounded enthusiastic.
