Due only to time... timing belt is due. I have all of the parts (big thanks to Acura of Augusta) to do the job as I was planning on knocking it out myself but my travel schedule has been hell.

Any shops in the area that you guys know that would do the job using my parts? and that you TRUST? I live in Severn, MD (near BWI airport).

What prices have you seen to do the job?

thank you

thank you for the leads I will give them a call

Curry's

http://www.currysauto.com

I believe the name was Dan (Dulles/Sterling location). Certified NSX mechanic. I just visited & talked to them. He seems to have done few nsx. I did *not* use them or anyone so far. He is suppose to be nsx guy from Pohanka Acura. I consider Chris input more reliable than mine as I never used these guys.

Also, search on this topic. I believe somebody listed prices and details.

Good luck! BTW please update your experience.

Tischer Acura in Laurel MD is probably closest to you. They have serviced my NSX for approx. 4 years now. Contact Regina Alec in Acura service and tell her Vijay sent you. FYI only Jim Allan works on my car and you may ask the same  PM me if you need any more info.

Any specifics on Car Doctor? I am a new owner (91 Black/Ivory) and need all the usual and maybe some extras. Am keeping the car stock so do not need any power parts, just a good wrench at a reasonable price.
I work in Falls Church so that would very cool, but can get to Glen Burnie if that is the concensus.
Thanks.
Michael

The Car Doctor is your best bet. Drop the car in the morning, take a cab to work, then pick up the car in the afternoon. You will not be disappointed with the Car Doctor - Charlie absolutely knows what he is doing.

I have read good reports on the other shops mentioned in this thread, but I don't have any personal experience with them.

My new to me 91 is at the Car Doctor right now. I have been very impressed with the communication as the AC needed work, a noisy bearing was located, and the TB and WP are being done. Do not be put off by the look of the place. Every indication is that Charlie is the Man.

If you are looking for a fantastic shop to service your NSX or other vehicles in your garage check out At Speed Motorsports, from basic maintenance to full up race prep.

Located in Hanover, MD
410-712-4290
www.atspeedmotorsports.com

Bob Miller is the owner with tons of race experience and takes a lot or pride in his fine establishment and the countless customers he provides support for both on and off the track (yes he does own an NSX as well).

Let them know that Rich Seigman / 443-250-9967 sent you… I am not getting anything out of this but want to make certain you and your vehicles are treated as they should be.

Rich is a friend of mine and for the past 10 years has serviced my high end vehicles.

/try inline performance all they do is work on honda and acura. They are also in the process of making a turbo kit for the nsx. 703 455 5805

NSX Expert.

I don't think there is really any such thing as just a good mechanic on an NSX. Either you know the car (which few do, but he does), or you don't. The NSX is one car where there really isn't any "in-between". Which is why it is so important to find your local NSX expert. Here is the tell: ask your prospective mechanic to check the oil. If he doesn't find the engine in the first place he looks, go somewhere else.

LoL. thanks. Are his rates pretty good as well?

True Story: I took my car to a local dealer because there was a clunking noise in the right rear suspension. Their diagnosis:

Dealership: Well, we think it is the right rear ball joint, so we need to order that but you need to prepay for the part.
Me: You think? Well, okay, how much?
Dealership: The part will be $2800.
Me: For a ball joint!?
Them: Well, you have to buy it as part of an assembly.
Me to self: This is going to cost like $3500 after labor. My history with this outfit is spotty already - I am just not going to do this. The car is driveable so I am leaving.
Me to Dealership: No thanks, I am going to have to pass.

This is part of my first ever conversation with Charlie at the Car Doctor, having decided to search out an independent shop to look at this problem, and having gotten the recommendation via this website:

Me: Charlie, word on the street is that you are the go-to guy for the NSX. Can you have a look at this problem?
Charlie: Well, I will have to take it apart before I decide what is wrong. How about I take it apart and look at it and then we will go from there. It may take two trips.
Me: Okay.

Later that afternoon...

Car Doctor: Your car is done.
Me: Okay, you are ready to order parts?
Car Doctor: No, it is done.
Me: You mean done done?
Car Doctor: Yeah, done done.
Me: Uh, okay, how much?
Car Doctor: $80
Me: 80!? What was wrong with it?
Car Doctor: Well, when we were taking it apart, we found a loose nut, so we tightened that and torqued everything in that area. We think that got it.
Me: Sweet!

Epilogue: This was a few years ago. I have had any clunking noise back there since. Needless to say, this experience converted me to an enthusiastic Car Doctor supporter. This is an extreme example, but the other things I have had done at the Car Doctor have all turned out very well and been very reasonable. I have not had a four-figure repair (When I had the AC compressor replaced, the repair bill just broke into the minimum four figures, but I had a few extras done that pushed the tab just above three figures.) since I gave up the dealership, and I had not one but two mid-four-figure trips through the dealership before I gave them up. In once instance when the dealership didn't fix the car...

Me, after picking up the car: The power steering isn't working.
Dealership: Well, we couldn't fix it before, so this time we didn't try. (This was their logic - I swear I am not making this up!)
Me: ???? Before it was an intermittent problem. Now it is all the time!

...LarryB "fixed" my car via e-mail. [Note: The problem was the NM speed sensor.] In another instance, they insisted on replacing the fusebox. Which told me that they were shotgunning the problem. I told them that this would have no effect before they did replacement. Of course it didn't do anything. They gave me a ten percent discount on this particular ride. Afterwards, I got a phone call where the lady did a customer service survey. I answered honestly, on a one to ten I would give the dealership a five. When she asked about cost, I told her that I had purchased whole cars recently that cost less than that trip through the service bay. Now I know that most people always feel that they pay too much, but I am very reasonable about this topic. But when I told her the actual tab, her response was "Oh my goodness!"

Which demonstrates that the best NSX tech is the best NSX tech, whether at a dealership or an independent shop. I highly recommend the Car Doctor for all your NSX needs.
