Here is a link to a track vid of my buddy in his Z07 following me for a few laps, then I followed him. He picks me up at about the 2:45 sec mark and follows for a couple of laps. Big thanks David, Mike, Greg, and Ray at TooBlue Racing for the video shots and uploads to UTube. This is from the April event at Putnam Park, this is Day 1 session 4. On Day 2 I broke a halfshaft and was relegated to crew duties, but still had a great time. Love Putnam but it is a tire killer, it is a mid to high speed track with average speeds in the high 70's to low 80's, and only two corners that drop below 60 MPH.

Anyway enjoy, I am working on my list of drivers excuses, so let me know what you think, just be gentle I bruise easily.

Your right about the track Dave. Fast flowing with little to run into. (Can stay very committed)
What tyres are on your friends Z07 compared to yours? I ask that because it seemed effortless for him to maintain higher corner speeds than you. You have good corner exit speed but your car is a bit more point and squirt where the Z07 wasn't losing as much momentum into and through the turns.
Hard to really evaluate, as I don't know each cars set up, but it seems to me that if you can find more grip and subsequent corner speed --- you and your mate will be very evenly matched.
Cool, both your cars were very quick compared to most of the others out there.

Well the tires was going to be one of my excusses, I am on NT-01's 235f/275r, he is on Hoosiers R6 295f/335r. He is 515whp and I am 400whp on my track tune. I have minimal suspension mods, Bilsteins, Tanabe Springs, and Dali Sway bars. My car gets off the corner very well, but is a little loose at mid corner and exit. The next track weekend after this event we played with the rear sway bar, first setting as soft as possible then removing to help cure the late corner oversteer. It was a rainy weekend at the track so I did not get any hard data but the rear is more planted now. I will try the stock rear sway at the next event and see if it is a good option. I know the car has more speed in it, and I could turn up the boost and try and level the playing field but I prefer to do some minor tweeks to the car and try and make the rest up with me. I get a bigger satisfaction in the incremental improvements in the driver than the car.

Right now on full song he can run 1:16's and I can only manage 1:20 flat, he is one of the fast 5 cars in our run group of 20 or so cars. I have a lot of time at this track and so does he but between the HP and mechanical grip difference I have a lot to make up for. Right now I am not good enough to get the job done, but that is why I keep doing the track thing. Someday I will get there with enough practice.

The group we run with has a very, very liberal set of passing rules, we have similar skill levels and experience. Everyone is very aware of what is happening outside of their cars so we can be more aggressive with the rules. We can pass anywhere anytime and without a point by. This is a very fast group of guys and almost everyone has logged a huge amount of time on this track.

Thank you for your comments.

Seems like you are on top of it Dave --- and you are in with the right guys.
I watched your laps again and I agree with you. Concentrating on finding more grip will definitely lower your times more than adding power. With your current chassis and tyre set up, the extra power will just highlight your lack of adhesion.
Your track vid is a fabulous opportunity for you see how much faster your mate enters each turn and the extra corner speed he carries. Whereas you are forced to wash off a lot more speed under brakes to get through the turns.
This type of thread is fascinating as we can all share in your progress.
