List of 22 coolant hose part numbers

When replacing the oil cooler hoses (HIGHLY recommended) as they were softest hoses on my car, plan on removing the oil filter housing and doing an oil change.

Which means that you will need the: 91318-PY3-000 'Figure 8 Oil Ring' and the special two bolts with sealer on them (used to mount the oil filter housing). You will need a torque wrench to install the bolts.

These hoses are fairly easy to replace once you made the decisions to remove the oil filter housing. Only takes a a few minutes, it took me 2-3 hours of trying every method of reinstalling the hoses w/o removing the housing (verdict: impossible, must remove housing).

Not listed is that you also need ~4 crush washers for the drain bolts on the main piping. And 4+ gallons of coolant.

Also when removing the old hoses, either use a heat gun or a very sharp razor blade. The trick with the razor blade is to just cut deep enough to sever the hose threads, but not ANY deeper. Any deeper and you will score the soft metal piping. It is very easy to put a deep score into them, no much pressure at all...so be very careful. Any scoring at all is bound to cause leaks later as the hoses become less forgiving of such things. So be CAREFUL.

Using a dull razor will just ensure that you score the piping because you can't control how deep you are cutting. Do not try and remove the any of the old hoses without either heat or a razor...you will surely damage the piping with the twisting and such.

Use silicone spray to lube and assist installation. Use mechanic's gloves. You need vice grips (large, small) and possession of every type of pliers can be quite helpful. The vice grips are useful to "stage" a clamp in the open position when installing. Have a very wide mouth set of pliers or maybe a beefy set of curved needle nose is good to have...there are some three prong re-enforced clamps that it just about impossible to get ahold of...wider is better.

I spent about 10 hours on this job, from start to finish. But the oil filter housing really threw me for a loop. Also had to stop, get more information and order parts...stuff you will not have to do with this post.

Oh yes, I learned all about those oil cooler hoses the hard way! Thanks for a very informative post.

The parts catalog lists two different part #s for the two short oil filter housing bolts:

90042-PR7-A00 BOLT, FLANGE (8X65) (ser. beg. 1300396)
-or-
90053-PH7-A00 BOLT, FLANGE (8X65) (ser. end. 1300395)

How do I know which ones to get?

You can get them all from Dali Racing

Thanks, however I don't believe the Dali kit includes those bolts, just hoses.
Besides, I stopped doing business with Dali Racing a.k.a. Mark Johnson almost two years ago because he ripped me off for a $400 core charge. His dishonesty is well-documented, just do a search for "Dali cheat" or "Dali ripoff" or "Dali owes" or "Dali cup holder" or "Dali core charge" or "Dali unanswered email" - you get the picture. I suspect this is the reason why he didn't show up for NSXPO this year.
I'm still puzzled about the two different parts numbers listed in the parts catalog for the two short oil filter mounting bolts: 90042-PR7-A00 (ser. beg. 1300396) and 90053-PH7-A00 (ser. end. 1300395), whether the difference is significant, and if it is, how to determine which to use.

As for the bolts, I used 90042-PR7-A00 and they worked just fine on my 91. FYI, the longer bolt is 95701-08120-08 and you can reuse it, the shorter bolts have a sealer that keeps the bolts from backing out and depriving your engine of oil and making a really big mess.

Important:I also forgot that you need two small o-rings for the plugs on the radiator. They become out of round (flat) and will drip coolant and they are quite easy to replace when you have the coolant removed.

So to recap, in addtion to the hoses, you need the following parts:
A. 1x oil filter housing o-ring oil seal, 91318-PY3-000
B. 2x bolts that secure the oil filter housing, 90042-PR7-A00
C. 2x Radiator Plug O-rings, 19012-PV0-005
D. 2x crush washers for the hard pipes, 90471-580-000
E. At least 4x gallons of coolant, OL000-9001
