I could hardly believe this when I read it. Lil' Kim as the subject of an English course at a major American university? As if we needed more proof, this provides yet another clear example of how relativistic liberal arts academics are failing in their role as educators by validating, elevating and even glorifying the lowest common denominators in society. No wonder so many American students receive their liberal arts college degrees but still can't find their own a$$ with both hands. Lil Kim's "sensationalist" lyrics (of which she is so proud) are absolute garbage and part of the greater erosion of society so evident these days.

So is the problem Lil Bi#$h, I mean Kim or The colleges starting to study the Hip Hop culture?
I for one would never want my daughters idolizing Lil Kim, However, I think there must be something to the culture. It was dismissed as a fad, what, 20 years ago? There is something there to be studied and maybe even learned.
The communication gap between generations for instance.
I don't know, it's just hard to condemn it without really knowing what they are to learn from the studies...
With other colleges adding such classes, something is there. I wish I understood half of the darn lyrics that are being spit out by some of the artist. Then there are those artists that I do understand, some of them make a lot of sense and people relate to them. Kids look up and listen to them. To ignore them would be foolish. I agree that a lot of the culture is plain inane. The degrading lyrics of some of them, the Videos of some of them (Soft porn), The style in general. As a father it scares the heck out of me. As a father I would rather understand the dynamics of it then ignore it. I will go on to say that I don't particularly care for most of it, but hell I hate country and western and Rock and Roll as well. People have blamed faults in society on those as well. Well maybe not country and western, but they did get grief for the battered women lyrics...

How can a Multi- Billion dollar industry be ignored or simply written off as insignificant or even the lowest common denominators? In what sampling are they the lowest?
Not defending hip hop. I wonder if they are going to discuss Li'l Kim's Tammy Faye-ish, plastic surgery?

What the heck, I am at a Government contractors seminar in the middle of BumFuk!!!!!
