Lighter...at a price.

I just installed a Taitec GT exhaust. I like the weight saving, which is 24 lbs lighter than OEM.

While I like the sound, it's better suited to the track than city neighborhoods IMO.

I'll put the OEM exhaust back on after the AutoX season.

Wow its that loud? I'm interested in buying this exhaust as well, but I want a more streetable exhaust, and not get the attention of our city's finest!:D

It'd be great if you could hear one in person. What did you think of NetVipers video? http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20646

Yeah I've watched his video as well as a sound/vid clip from I believe NSX2NV... I like the way it sounds, but can't really tell how much louder it is than stock.

How can you best describe the sound from your GT, do you think it sounds? Raspy? Beefier/deeper tone? I'm sure it would sound way better in person.

I was originally set on getting the Comptech, but I've heard some mixed reviews here on the board about quality issues and cansters blowing out and stuff...

I dunno yet... I'll have a little more research to do before I decide which one I want...

All of the above, raspy, beefy, deeper. The comptech is supposed to be quieter and 10 lbs lighter than OEM. I didn't consider that one because it's heavier than Taitec. More recently I've read of the quality issues you mentioned too.

If your wallet can stand it you should consider the ARC titanium too. At 12 lbs it may be the lightest exhaust available.

I had the same exhaust too. I don't think it's too loud. If you only drive the car one or twice a week on weekend, I doubt you will create problem in your neighborhoods. :D

Animate or netviper,
I have the Taitec GT parallel. Think it is an 18lb savings over stock. This exhaust is similar to stock (little deeper but quiet) at low RPMs but transforms to a higher pitch racer at high rpm and VTEC. Like someone said, it sounds like one of a Japanese racing motorcycle but heavier tone. Actually, I have come to the conclusion that words cannot describe any of these exhaust systems!

Oh my point, almost forgot; do any of you want to trade? I like it loud or atleast i think so until i try it

SmoothAccel: You're right, words can't describe adequately. I don't think I'll trade but thanks for the offer. I've never tried it but I'll bet getting a trade through customs would be a nightmare. We'd probably both end up paying taxes/duty. :)

BTW, I just had a look at the JGTC Parallel on SoS. They actually rate yours louder than the Lightweight. This may come back to the subjectivity of non-quantitative sound ratings.

Animate, i did not realize that you were overseas.... OOPS.

The names on all the taitecs are somewhat confuzing(sp?!). I have the GT parallel. The JGTC is more hardcore. The GT seems to be discontinued. I did not see it at SOS but it is bigger and has more muffling than the JGTC.

Smoothaccel: You may be thinking of Victoria, Australia. ... Overseas, though technically correct, sounds more distant than it really is.

Victoria, BC is on an island near the west coast of Canada. There's about 30 miles of sea between us and the mainland. And to reference it to a major US city: we are about 60 miles from Seattle as the crow flies.

If I remember correctly, you will be the first person to sell their Taitec lightweight on Prime..

and what exactly is the problem with that?

Do you want to share the reason why are you going to sell?

I think many interested people in the Taitec would hear what did move you from the initial enthusiasm to the point of selling it in such a short time...

It was a little too loud for my girlfriend.. and I just wasn't crazy about it.... It is a great exhaust though, don't get me wrong.... it just wasn't for me...
