Hello,

I'm interested in getting a SC430. I need a car that can seat 4 people, even tho I am aware that the back seat is best suited for short trips. I've looked into the Porsche and M3s-- staying away from German cars, I have my reasons.

Should anybody have one, how is it?

Thank you.

I have a friend shopping for them now and I can tell you that four average-sized adults will NOT fit in an SC430, short trip or not. Packaging has always been a problem with the four-seat convertibles, but the SC430 is ecpecially tight out back.

There isn't even room for a child in the rear of those cars...strictly a two seater. Also, with the top down, you cannot even put a small golf bag in the trunk.

i would strongly suggest you go for a ride in a lexus IS 350.
it is a much better car than the 430.

The back seat isn't even suitable for no legged individuals (not trying to offend anyone), it really is nothing more than a leather upholstered package shelf. It will fit the golf bag that the trunk won't when the top is down. If you really want to look at four seat convertibles, one of the best would be the M3, S4 IMHO, good luck in your search-

I'd recommend the M3 or even the 650 over the Lexus. I don't know about the back seats in the 650, but the rear seats in the M3 are very comfortable on long drives. I actually sat in the back seat when I had my M3 on a road trip to canada with my friends and was comfortable all the way up.

IMO lexus may be a reliable car but is very unoriginal when it comes to designs, way to boring to drive, and feels very cheap for a car with that type of $ tag.

just my 0.02

I owned an SC430. It was the best built car I've ever owned. It is super quiet top up, fantastic top down. The V-8 is amazingly smooth and the Mark Levinson stereo smokes anything from any other auto maker. Not super fast, but fast enough for what it is. It is a great touring car. Not a sports car. Backseats in it are NOT adequate for humans that have their lower appendages. They should be called "luggage overflow" because they work great in that capacity when the top is down. It does everything really well, but nothing really great. It handles okay, rides okay, accelerates okay etc. I loved mine, but I thought the NSX was nearing its end of production and so I went with it because I had dreamed of it for a long time. Great car for two. Not an option for four. Good luck in your decision.

Alex Zanardi wouldn't even fit back there.

The guy I bought my 911 from went to an SC430, and he says it's the best car he's ever owned for the total package. I think they look like a bulbous, squashed Audi TT, but that's just me.

My ex-girlfriend had an Egyptian Sand SC430. Sick, sick car. I loved it; possibly the best part of the relationship. Just kidding. Anyways the car was very fast, almost smoked my E36 M3 when it was bone stock from a roll. Very luxurious and the sound system and NAV were top notch. Looks was nice and the run flats are a nice option.

I remember Ken saying it looked like a "pregnant pig" and everytime I see one that's what I think of. The dark maroon color is a very nice color though.
