Lewis Hamilton mistake

He just stayed out too long on intermediates. He was literally 10ft away from the asphalt.

What an awesome race! Button is driving incredibly well. Best race of the year so far.

Unpredictable season, very exciting. Alonso flat out admit if the next race is under "normal" condition, Hamilton will take it, unless miracle happens.

I'm glad Honda got some points from Button finishing in 5th.

Kimi won it - Go Ferrari! Had he done better earlier in the season too, he would have won the championship by now.

Gonna be a really exciting finish in Brazil. Three guys that could potentialy become champions. This was a really good season.

Can people please not put spoilers in the thread topic for those of us who have not yet watched,,pretty please!

Amazing race! Shows that there's hope for Honda next year.

unless miracle happens
Hamo hasn't made many mistakes this year, and none as bad as yesterday's, so the results for Kimi and Fred fall into the "miracle happens" category. And who's to say another one couldn't happen in Brazil?

At least Hamo threw it away himself instead of having it taken away off track.

When I saw him slide off so slowly and helplessly, I could just about hear Bernie yelling under his breath, "Thank you Jesus."

and jozer too...

It was one of the better tactical races, but I thought McLaren made a collossal mistake in judgment to keep Hamilton out that extra lap or two when it was obvious he was sliding all over the palce and losing time quickly. And to let him duke it with Kimi ...... even the commenators were saying he doesn't need to fight Kimi that hard ......

Re: Honda's new chassis

next year's chassis looks promising judging by the times they've been putting in while testing it
Looks promising now, but I'm sure they don't have the EarthDream stickers on it. They have said they will continue the Earth Dream 'concept' so we'll see  how quick they are next year in full livery.

Maybe I shouldn't be such a cynic since Button said he was staying at Honda and wouldn't consider a McLaren seat; and we all know from his prior history that whatever he says, we can take to the bank.

Damm... i miss last year's look. I really wish they went back to that instead of this mother earth save the planet bullsh_t!

Re: Honda's new chassis

I think Brazil GP is gonna be a close fight between Lewis and Kimi

I also couldn't believe Ron made such a bad judgement call, you could see cord starting to show through, and as someone else has said, he was racing Alonzo not Kimi !

If this had happened to Alonzo, it would be under investigation for the next two weeks............... Whinner.

Re: Brazil & 20-20 hindsight

I think Brazil GP is gonna be a close fight between Lewis and Kimi
Is that just a gut feeling or do you have some other concrete information you're going with? Say, something about that venue that would put Fred at a disadvantage? I don't know myself, just curious what you're thinking.

I also couldn't believe Ron made such a bad judgement call,
In hindsight, it does look like a stupid risk, but the threat and timing of rain forces everyone to roll the dice. A few examples: Making what would be to us simply a "safe and conservative" call, (potentially an extra pit stop) would drop the car several spots and get him mired in mid pack mayhem. Several teams were not changing intermediate tires even when the left fronts were bald; an apparent gamble that the heat in the tires would make them a second quicker on the outlap. And look at how Ferrari gambled in Fuji that the rain would ease up and that intermediates would be the brilliant call !!

In the end, McLaren's risk was going to pay off, the problem mostly was Hamo forgot how wet/slick the pit lane would be. Also, while Ron and the engineers are trying to estimate rain timing/pit lap timing and other strategy, the driver has to estimate how much longer the tires can last.

I wouldn't be too hard on ole Ron; he's got enough pressure.

Re: Brazil & 20-20 hindsight

Just a gut feeling, nothing else.

Mistake was made, true, but don't you think that's a crappy place for a gravel trap? Wouldn't it have been better to have that area paved?

Re: Pit lanes; an afterthought?

but don't you think that's a crappy place for a gravel trap?
Agreed. It's interesting that this was what, the 2nd or 3rd recent race where the pit entrance/lane was narrow, convoluted, blind or dangerous in some way.

The Ferraris are much better on the faster later season circuits, the McLarens have dominated the early season courses with a lower average speed. The F2007 has a longer wheelbase then any other car on the grid and is much better suited for the high speed courses.

The last couple of races have really livened up the season! At the beginning of the year I had the feeling it was going to be a Hamilton sweep, now with one race left, the points are still open! Awesome season and the last race in Interlagos will be a nail biter for sure!!!!

So, who do you guys think Alonzo will be driving for in the next season or two? I have a sneaking suspension that it will not be McLaren......
