Left-to-Right hand drive conversion?

I've considered doing this with a civic or integra, just for kicks, but when I looked at everything that had to be done, I quickly changed my mind. I wish it was as easy as just unbolting the steering column and moving it, but that alone would require cutting a hole in the firewall, buying a new steering rack, relocating brake and clutch master cylinders, drilling and cutting more holes for the new pedal assembly, buying a new NSX dash with instrument cluster, 2 new NSX door panels with master window switch/mirror control on the right side. If you decide to do that, best of luck to you, but IMO its way not worth it.

What is prohibitive about getting one from Japan ? (already RHD) Harder to find a connection?
Maybe someone on here can help with some contact info for a similar Japanese forum - or maybe Manuel (NSX1164) can help hook you up with some contacts ...

How about just get a US spec car and drive it as is? I have seen RHD Rolls in the states and I think it is cool to be different. But it takes a while to get used to.

For a daily driver, it may not be practical, but for a car that you take for joy rides, it's fun.

if you can get a JDM NSX , i say go for it, heck go for a Type R . it doesnt take long to get used to. second week i was here , i was already driving our squadron's truck. to add to things, it was a 4sp on the column. i had never driven a rhd car, much less a manual car with the shifter on the column and i had no problems driving it for the first time. the hardest part was using the turn signals. i would instead turn on the wipers as the controls are switched also. then i would drive a lhd chevy van and that would confuse me again. the ignition switches are still to the right of the steering wheel in JDM cars though.

as far as not being practical for a daily driver, i have to disagree with you CDube. I've driven cars, trucks, vans, and buses here in Japan, both LHD and RHD and i have no problems getting around town with them. even with a bus.

I was at my friends shop and one of their projects was doing a Right hand drive conversion. It was pretty crazy how they chopped off a JDM firewall and placed it in the USDM. For all its worth i think it wouldn't be much worth it do'n the conversion. Car just won't feel the same

> Car just won't feel the same

my thoughts exactly. And in the case of an NSX, the feel is everything.

Yeah, thought of getting one from Japan... but then how could i read the manual?

seriously, i may have to do that coz the number of NSX's in Australia is low. (is there any way of finding out how many were sold in Oz?)
