A few weeks ago OzzieJohn and I went for a cruise around Dandenong ranges in his "Green Tea" NSX. John was even kind enough to hand the keys to me for a drive... which was sooooooo much fun. At the end of the day my face literally hurt from so much smiling!

Here's some highlights:
* Trading waves with a passing Honda cruise of civic's and integra's. They were acknowledging their "DADDY". ;)

* Waving to the driver of a Ferrari Testarossa coming from the opposite direction -- and he waved back! LOL!!!

* Enjoying John's spirited driving on tight corners signed "40km", and he took them at xx km's (only NSX owners will know exactly that speed 'xx' is :D )

* Pulling into a parking lot and meeting a father & son who owned a blue Skyline (pictured below). It's so refreshing meeting complete strangers and be able to talk cars without machoism or 'pen1s envy' -- just men enjoying great cars for what they are.

But the biggest highlight of course was just driving around with someone like John who also loves the NSX - enjoying a journey with no real destination, talking about the NSX & other cars in general, and enjoying life at that very moment. The drive was a reminder to me that we're all sooooo busy running around with work etc that it's easy to forget simple pleasures like driving a stunning car without a care in the world...... well, except for cops and speed cameras. :D

Of course, every drive thread is meaningless without pix, so here's four of the best for you guys to enjoy.

Thanks again John for a great day! And sorry this is late!

That green NSX sure looks hot:wink:, exotic and different, kinda' like the stripper I saw last night:biggrin:, oops, did I say that...? I would say the only thing he needs is some of NICO's rear spats:cool:. Shame on you both:tongue: for living "down under" and not having some of NICO's spats on that beautiful green machine:tongue: .

Beautiful car, agree on the spats either NICO's or WW, something else to keep it looking the same height all the way around.

Nice pics! Is the greener running 17" LMs in the rear too?

Having just traded my R32 GTR for my NSX I can tell you its a wonderful machine, with so much more potential than the NSX. I love my X, but its a complete balanced package right from the getgo whereas the GTR's RB with a little prodding will walk all over the X ...but its a brute without finesse (which I love it for).

haha... you guys going on about Nico's spats as if he invented them himself! :D Personally I think this mean green machine doesn't need them to turn heads... but each to his own.

I wish we had plates like that in the USA. The front plate actually looks unintrusive on the car.

A big word, yes...a real word, no.

Should have used "unobtrusive"

(sorry, if I'm stepping on the "Grammar Nazi's" toes)

Sorry it's taken me so long, you know, Aussies are a bit laid back, might strain something if I replied to a post too quickly.

Just wanted to say that it's a real pleasure to meet people like Mike (Neo) through Prime, this guy is a real class act.

To respond to the questions above:

  • Yes, they're BBS LMs, 17 front, 18 rear.

  • It's custom metallic green paint. Similar to the Type-S green, but a shade brighter. It's the type of colour that some people will never like, but a tribute to the NSX that many people are really taken by it - not every car looks great painted an outrageous colour, just like not every person looks great wearing outrageous clothes.

  • I hear what you guys say about the rear spats. Two things are causing me indecision: 1) I'm worried about clearance around the quad-tip exhaust, and 2) I'm more concerned about getting the maintenance all taken care of first, then I'll worry about the cosmetics.

  • I wish we could run without front number plates, like some of you in the USA! Planning on switching to a black background plate to make my front plate stand out a little less.

When I bought it the shocks needed fixing, and I've ended up with the TEIN RA kit and am loving it so far. Got set on the softest usable setting front and back, which is just about right on country roads.

Between me and Honda it's now had a major service.

Next up is the joy of removing the interior in order to fix / replace the evaporator, which will likely take around a month as an after-hours job by my friendly local mechanic. Hopefully then I will have a/c in time for summer, without which in our climate the car would not be an awful lot of fun for at about 3 months a year.

Again thank you Mike for the company and the photos. Look forward to meeting up again.

haha,

that's why there are copywriters.

I suck at that stuff :p

Not too many cars can get away with that color but looks like the NSX can. Good job there mate, enjoy the drives.
