Revival! [New Honda NSX] Third-generation full model change "Adopts new-generation EV platform!" To be released in 2027!

Honda is planning to release a fully redesigned version of its flagship sports car, the NSX.

We'll introduce the latest information on the new Honda NSX, a new generation car with improved driving performance, including specs and prices.

It has been commented that the new NSX, which will undergo a full model change, is planned to be available as an EV model, and will be developed based on the Honda 0 Series, a concept model of which has been unveiled as Honda's next-generation electric vehicle.

The Honda 0 Series is characterized by its "thin EV-specific platform with a reduced floor height," which overcomes the issues of body weight and size that are a problem with electric sports models, while achieving the sharp cornering that has been the appeal of all previous NSX models.

By adopting a high-output electric motor, even higher performance is pursued.

The new Honda NSX is scheduled to be released in 2027, following the Honda 0 Series, which will be launched in 2026.
▼Changes in the new Honda NSX

  • Equipped with a high-output EV powertrain
  • Adopting the latest brand design for the interior and exterior
  • New generation platform improves aerodynamics and driving performance
The rear design is reminiscent of previous NSX models, which had the engine mounted at the rear of the vehicle, and is equipped with a large rear spoiler and diffuser to improve driving performance at high speeds.

The undercarriage is given a more compact look by being equipped with large-diameter wheels that house a large-capacity brake system that provides stable, high braking force.

A new generation system! What are the powertrain and specs of the new Honda NSX?

▼Powertrain and specs of the new Honda NSX

  • Powertrain: Electric motor "EV"
  • Maximum power output: 1020hp
  • Range: 650km
  • Drive system: AWD
The new Honda NSX will be equipped with a new generation electric vehicle powertrain.

The new generation EV powertrain delivers over 1,000 horsepower, significantly more than the previous model, and drives all four wheels.

The 4WD system improves line tracing performance through precise control of the output of the front and rear motors and regenerative braking.

The new NSX retains the front-to-rear weight distribution of 42:58 from the previous model, which was biased towards the rear, creating a body characteristic that turns sharply towards the inside of corners.
▼Price of the new Honda NSX

  • From 25 million yen
The price of the new Honda NSX will be kept down by using a platform shared with other new-generation EV models while still featuring a high-output powertrain.

Color me as skeptical as well about the timelines as well & the final cost. 🤥 Honda has got to be looking at how EV's are selling for their competitors... It's getting close to the point where everyone who wants one, and has a garage or dedicated home charger, has one. Even Rimac didn't sell their entire run.

1000 HP acceleration, aggressive cornering, and stiff suspension - That seems like an excellent way to transport a couple of crates of apples & pears. I'm sure they'll arrive in unbruised condition and all still in those crates!

I think this is just a Japanese car magazine wish-casting "scoop." They do this all the time- the "R36" GT-R ones were amusing. Honda hasn't decided what it is doing as a company yet, so I'm sure the NSX concept is on hold for now. They are working on the 0 Platform, but that might get re-jiggered if they combine with Nissan.

This whole merger thing could be a real time suck for both...
