Guys Ill be doing skip barber next year, the 3 day race school, and I have a choice of Sebring or Laguna Seca. I live in Boston so Sebring is 3 hours away, and Laguna Seca is a grueling 6.5 hour flight.... I have not been to either track, but Monterey sure sounds a lot better.

Can you guys give me some input as to which to pick? I may be going with a friend.

since both tracks are great you might consider the off track ammenities of both since you are bringing a bff....sebring not much goin on,I have no idea what Laguna has around it so I'll let the Left coasters help you with that.

If he attends Laguna Seca, he better be ready to pop the question once he gets to Carmel - a must visit/stay :tongue:

Laguna Seca!!

BTW - don't they have a course at Road Atlanta too? Or is it one of the other groups?

Laguna Seca by a mile. Road Atlanta would be a tougher decision but I think I'd still choose Laguna.

Yeah road atlanta is available too. If I book before the end of the month I get 20% off.

Well "flat" doesn't sound too good, I can just autoX if I wanted flat. Problem with Road Atlanta is that it's... in Atlanta. LOL...

I don't know... still doesn't sound like Monterey... I've driven through Carmel before... OK I think Laguna Seca it is. Thanks guys.

The hotel near RA owned by the boss is very nice..decent spa ect...just sayin

I just got back from a visit to Miller Motorsports Park, you west coast guys may have the amenities, but you sure don't have much grass to go flyin' off into!

We don't have garss in CA  Actually many of the run-off areas are gravel pits to slow the cars down before reaching the walls/tires. However, I have seen a couple ALMS cars hit walls that are really close to the track, one actaually at the corkscrew.

AS for NSX's, we NEVER go off track or spinout at Laguan Seca, see video below.

Maybe i'm a little biased because I use to instruct at LS for Skippy, but I would probably pick Laguna Seca. You really can't go wrong but the West coast instructors are pretty chill.

I love Sebring but there are only two "oh sh*t" turns, 1 and 17. Maybe Bishop's Bend, too, if you're in a *really* fast car.

Turn 17 is incredibly bumpy, especially if you apex down near the grass.

And Sebring itself is picturesque in a quaint kind of way, but not nearly as interesting as the area around Laguna Seca. There's not a whole lot around Sebring. I think they roll up the sidewalks at 10 PM.

While I have never driven it, LS seems a total hoot, if only for the Corkscrew. But the rest of the track seems pretty fun, too.

Even though I love Sebring, I think I'd pick Laguna Seca.

Re-consider Road Atlanta, it has a lot of elevation change and it's not really in Atlanta.
Chateau Elan is like 5 minutes away and is very nice to stay, golf and eat at.

When I saw the Superflow 12 hours at Sebring back in the late 90's you could see cars bounce off the ground. It was very rough.

A zero cost way to get an idea of all of these tracks is to play it on XBOX. All three tracks you are considering are available in Forza.

Are they actual replicas? Can you really learn a track through Xbox? I may have to beat up some little kids and take their Xbox if that's really the case.

I'm sure there is a better version of this somewhere...

Forza and Gran Tourismo have pretty accurate approximations of real tracks. You can absolutely learn the turns and general lines by practicing in these games. But it doesn't mean it'll make you fast.

Notice Clarkson calls the NSX a supercar @ 9:59.

Yeah you can get a general feel for the track, the flow, the lines, and the overall feel from a video game. I'm not saying it is exactly like the real thing, but it is way better than nothing.

You can come over and I'll whoop you up just to make the experience more like real life for you.

Silly question... Laguna Seca is the answer.

Yeah hang on to that one-time 3 seconds of glory while you still can...
