Is anyone interested in playing a round or two of golf before Laguna Seca in October? Pebble Beach and Spyglass are legendary and I have got to play them at least once in my life, why not now? I am planning on going up early and playing on Thursday and Friday (10/18 & 19).

Let me know if you are interested.

Bruce

PS: Pebble Beach and Spyglass are pricey, $495 and $315 respectively  (plus cart and caddy?). I have not looked into availability yet, that's next.

I've played both. Pebble once (every golfer needs to play Pebble at least once) and Spyglass several times. I'd love to but since my wife is also included in the event luggage pluse 2 sets of clubs (she'd kill me if I played Pebble without me) will not fit in the NSX (hmm maybe roof racks).

I was thinking it would be nice for many of us to meet at the Tap-Room in Pebble Beach for drinks and or dinner - anyone?

Here is the latest: I called Pebble Beach for reservations and you can only book one day in advance if you are not staying at the resort. (I'm not) In addition October is their busiest month and they are booked solid. So much for Pebble Beach. :frown: (unless you want to show up early the day you want to play and get on the wait list for cancellations.)

So plan B: I got 2 reservations at Spanish Bay. Some people prefer this course to Pebble Beach. The first tee time is at 8:30AM on Thursday October 18th. The second is for 12:50PM Friday October 19th. Both are for 4 players. The cost is $345 per person with cart. (add $35 for 1/2 caddy fee, this is optional)

Let me know if you want to play.

As for the 19th hole Tap Room... does Friday night make sense? Is it open to the public? Do you need reservations?

Well they do rent clubs... now you just have to decide what is more important, getting killed or living without Spyglass...

Yes, you need reservations at the Tap Room. Friday works fine for me for dinner and or drinks. Actually, the food is quite good, but a bit pricey and that is expected for PB. If you wish me to make reservations for a group, just tell me here in Prime that you wish to attend and I will take care of it. If you need a pass thru PB and want to take the 17 Mile tour and save almost $10.00 PM me your name and details. If you have never driven 17 Mile drive in your NSX you really should.

We should complete our list of those planning on attending no later then two weeks prior to the event.

You know the saying "Too many cooks ----", but another less expensive option is Poppy Hills (Green Fees $53/$80 M-T, $68/95 F-S - lower price is for NCGA members, higher is for NCGA guests or SCGA members, I'm an NCGA memeber). Having played all the courses, including Spanish Bay, I'd have to rate Poppy a better course but probably not the same views. I am still not sure I'll play or not, need to consult with the wife. Might be able to bribe her with a spa treatment at casa palmero at pebble. I'll probably finalize plans by early Sept.

As far as the Tap room, Sandy & I be interested.

If you want to get together at the Tap Room @ Pebble Beach, please let me know.

Hi Steve,

I would like to have dinner at the tap room. Not many other replies to this post, perhaps we should put a post in the main event thread and get a few more people together?

Bruce

Well, a few of us from Sacto were also thinking about having dinner. One of our choices is Joe Rombi's restaurant.

208 17th Street
Pacific Grove, Ca., 93950

He has a private room on the second floor that seats about 30. He has excellent food and service, nice wine selection, very reasonable price, and he has hosted us trackers several times as he instructs/tracks with TrachMasters-Racing. LMK if this is an alternative - haven't made any reservations yet.

Well, I agree. But unless I missed something, I didn't see any sign-up list. Given that reservation was required, not sure what the status is/was. Also, how much is the cost for a dinner - is it a la carte of for a group there would be limited menu options?

Edit: Joe Rombi's special discount for us is $25 with at least three courses served; alcoholic drinks are extra. His seating in the private room is limited to 24 - so its an intimate ambiance. Friday 10/19 was still open, he penciled it just in case.

The Tap Room has a large menu all a la carte.
