Wow, what a night. I was out doing yard work in the evening, since it was nice and cool.
I saw a small scorpion on my driveway after dark, and killed it by stepping on it and also spraying bug killer on it.
Then I was going out to toss trash, and almost stepped on a baby snake, about 10 inches long. I called my neighbor over, who is familiar with snakes. He identified the snake as a harmless gopher snake, but we were unable to capture the snake as it went into the shrubs and hid there.
A few months ago my neighbor's son captured a rattle snake in their driveway, and he had it sitting in their garbage can, until they could dispose of the snake by releasing it in the wild.
So if you're here for NSXPO, be careful about going out in the desert in sandals, as tempting as that may be.
What a night!!
