On Friday, my son and I took a drive down to Corning to visit the Glass Museum. This is a highly recommended stop for anyone with free time during the upcoming NSXPO. Beautiful displays, historical and educational with some pieces thousands of years old. You can also watch a live demonstration of a craftsman making a glass object. 414 is a nice road from Corning to Watkins Glen. We then visited the actual gorge called Watkins Glen State Park, entrance right off the main drag on 14. Have any of you track rats stopped there? Also highly recommended. You folks with camaras will love this place - lots of waterfalls and geological formations. A nice hike of about two miles round trip.
We finished the day with a visit to Farm Sanctuary, a sort of hippy-esque commune type farm that rescues and cares for mistreated and abused farm animals. Worthy cause.
Today, before leaving The Glen, we drove the course of the original Grand Prix Circuit as laid out in 1948. They must have been some very exciting races. This would make an awesome parade route for all the cars attending NSXPO.
We made it home without any trouble. Hope everyone else did too.
